Talked to an ex-military friend today about Hegseth’s speech this morning. And this was his takeaway

They haven't earned respect if they are fat @sses in the military. I had to meet standards when I was in the military and it was damn well expected out of my superiors. They can shape the fk up or ship the fk out. Twenty years ago, they would have kicked their fat @sses out.
Also, after these fat asses sat on their hands and helped facilitate kicking people out for not getting a covid vaccine - Ask me if I care about these fat fricks.

Eh. I know Generals who are straight beasts, but, again, people like the stereotype so he's playing to the crowd. Does it make us more lethal? Meh. It's another minor issue that could have been handled with a damned email.

My friend is retired military. His thought was if the guys he leads need to be shape, he needs to be in shape to lead them.

I talked with a consultant to the War Department, and he said, a lot of these generals and admirals resent Pete, and part of the reason for this get together was to tell them that Pete is the boss and that the CiC will back him all the way.
