Anyone having luck with Limelight Hydrangeas

Mine grow insanely well. They are white and still white right now, but starting to brown. We keep the brown flowers for vases (well my wife does) after we trim them back in the Fall. She likes the look.

- I have some in morning sun and others in afternoon sun, both grow really well. They get 6+ hours of sunlight a day.
- Hollytone fertilizer granules around the base once a quarter.
- Make sure soil never gets bone dry. I have one that actually does fine in wet feet, but I don't water it as much since it's in a low spot.
- Don't water the foliage, just the root base, find mine burn easily

And lastly, watch videos online on how to trim limelights once they die back. Critical for next years growth.

I'm in Eastern TN near Chattanooga/Georgia line.

Planted several in almost full shade areas. Pretty leaves, no blooms.

Are you in south Louisiana? Do you provide any supplemental irrigation beyond rainfall?

Yes, I have them in slightly raised beds and water 3 days per week. The ones in the lower bed that dont drain as well flower more, but foilage isnt as full. I use osmocote one or two times per year.

In metro ATL. I’ve got 10 in the front of the house that get afternoon sun and another 10 in the backyard that get about 4-5 hrs of afternoon/morning sun. I’ve never had the blooms change color. The ones up front brown a bit. The ones in the back yard get about 3’-4’ tall and the ones up front 4’-5’. I cut the ones in the back yard pretty severely and they come back fine with great blooms. The ones up front I’ll cut back to about 3’ and they also come back. Pretty indestructible.
