... And he has lost 15 straight... only behind Frank Beamer all-time.

How much of that was Vandy against SEC juggernauts

He was in the SEC east when it was a complete joke, so he probably didn't play as many as you'd think. He was also only at Vandy for 3 seasons 2011-13.

Richt - UGA era
Tennessee tire-fire Dooley era
Muschamp - Florida era
Joker Phillips - Kentucky era

Pinkel at Mizzou and Spurrier at Scar were basically the best programs in the east at that time.

At least Beamer was losing against elite Miami and Florida State teams that had more talent than he did. Franklin is losing to programs with equal talent.

He'll have a job as long as PSU keeps getting their charmin soft schedules

Can they lose to all 3 ranked teams on their schedule and still make the playoffs?

Time at Vandy is irrelevant.

They haven’t won a regular season game against a ranked opponent since 2019. Penn State beats up on the 10 or so teams that serve as a punching bag to the top heavy Big 10 and they get exposed against the actual elite teams every single time they match up against them. Penn State is a consistent fraud thats fortunate to only have to play 1-2 actual good teams a season

For a long times it’s been OSU, Michigan, now Oregon

Penn State & every now and then Iowa or Wisconsin

Rest of Big 10

Time will tell where USC fits into this

How many of those games had Penn State favored?

He went 0-3 against top 6 teams at Vandy:

2011: lost @ #2 Alabama 34-0
2012: lost @ #5 UGA 48-3
2012: lost to #4 Florida 31-17

And he had a poor record overall against ranked teams. His success at Vandy was largely attributable to two things - (1) he got Vandy to relax admission and character standards and brought in a lot of athletes that Vandy (and other SEC schools) otherwise wouldn't touch and (2) they had a lot of luck with scheduling as teams they played had atypical bad years.

Thanks for those. Leaves him still at 2-18.

Last night they showed him a lot. He definitely did not look like he was enjoying the moment at all. His facial expression and body language was bad.

He's a really good coach. His teams are consistently a top 15 team. But I don't think he has what it takes to cross that hump. They'll probably never cross that hump into being a legit top tier team under Franklin.
