how is this diy build?

These are actual costs after taxes
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D – $350.00
- Motherboard: GIGABYTE B850 Eagle WiFi 6E – $181.22
- RAM: Patriot Viper Elite 5 DDR5 32GB (6000MHz CL36) – $80.64
- Storage: Crucial P3 Plus 1TB NVMe SSD (reused from another PC) – $0.00
- Case: Okinos Aqua 7 – $79.55
- PSU: MONTECH Century II 850W – $99.34
- CPU Cooler: Thermalright Aqua Elite 360 V3 AIO – $60.66
Option 1: Gigabyte RTX 5080 Windforce SFF OC
- Final Total: $1,850.41
Option 2: PNY RTX 5070 Ti
- Final Total: $1,679.06
I also found this prebuilt on walmart for 1799 plus tax, ~ $1980

No reason not to get a 6000/30 kit at this point. It wouldn’t cost much, if any, more.

I would use that as the system drive but add another 2tb NVME during the install so I don’t have to worry about storage expansion later.

Sorry the RAM is CL30.
I found the crucial 2tb p310 on sale today for 100 bucks.
The PSU, I was watching a video on YouTube and this was on the A tier
Pcpartpicker said my consumption was around 660W, so I went with 850. If there is a sale on a 1000 later, I will swap it out
The Arctic III Pro ARGB was 100 plus tax.
I found the crucial 2tb p310 on sale today for 100 bucks.

Up to you if you’re that price sensitive.
Though as a point of explanation: not only will an 850w PSU limit future upgrades, but it already places you near the 80% load mark, which starts you down the other side of the efficiency curve and markedly up the fan/dB curve. If you can avoid it, you generally don’t want your peak load numbers to get above 60% or so.

How many of these components can you not use (PSU, cooler, etc) from your existing build, at least for a bit? That price seems kind of bonkers, though. Reusing PSU, case, Corsair water cooler and SSDs, I just re-built (last night) an Asrock X870 w/ a 9600X and 128GB of RAM for under $700.

I like the build. The GPU you decide on really should be based on what your display is capable of. If your display is capped at 120hz, I’d probably stick with the 5070ti, if you have or plan on getting a display that gets up to 240hz or more, go with the 5080.

My last build was almost 10 years old. I sold most of the parts thinking I will never build again. The storage stick is from my gaming laptop, which i am probably going to sell as well.

I can buy a monitor for work and hamming. I might get a240hz, what are the best onesavailable. I will be expanding it so don't want to go overboard

If you are interested in upgrading your monitor, I would recommend going OLED and ultrawide for the wider aspect ratio which makes games way more immersive.

I completed the build yesterday. It looks awesome. I heard the 5080 has decent overclocking potential. So going to give it a shot this weekend

If I recall correctly, it’s more of an overclock/undervolt combo, but I honestly haven’t kept up with it.
