Week in Breck with young kids in late October - things to do suggestion?

1 and 3 year old (and a pregnant wife I'll add).
We'll do some small hikes, museums, would like to get out of breck one day. Maybe go to Leadville or BV.
Any other ideas? Just trying to take a trip before baby 3 is here in the spring.

They have some good parks/playgrounds. My son loves the railroad park by the ice arena.
If there's any snow on the ground, buy a cheap plastic sled at Walmart in Frisco and hit Carter Park in Breck for the sledding hill.
If your 3 yo is tall enough to ride with you, both Breck and Copper have mountain coasters that would be fun.

We did Colorado Springs when my daughter was 1 and wife pregnant which has a great zoo, nice enough downtown, Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods. It was summer, and may not be helpful if you're set on Breck but I picked the spot based on knowing we'd have easy things to do with her.

Ya late October is a weird time for a trip to Breck. It's in between seasons. Summer activities are basically over, and winter activities aren't started yet. It's kind of like mud season, when everyone up there takes their vacations. Color change will be over too.
On the bright side, it should be relatively quiet in town at least.

Just an FYI make sure to double check times everywhere. Many ski resort areas have major shut downs from around mid October to the weekend after Thanksgiving as its sort of down time with very little tourism and maybe some snow but not enough to ski and not cold enough to make it.
It can be fantastic weather and you'll likely have the place to yourself most likely.
WIth little kids and really either way, its going to be extremely weather dependent. As said you may luck out and get some fresh snow for a bit. Or it could be light jacket weather in the 50s.

Copper turned their guns on today, aiming for 11/7 opening day. All resorts will be open for Thanksgiving, although they typically just have 1-2 main runs open with fake snow base on them. I imagine the other resorts will fire up their guns in the coming days. I can't imagine paying for a lift ticket to ski the same overcrowded run on mostly fake snow all day. Hopefully some good storms roll through between now and Thanksgiving to get a good natural base started.
It'd be nice if there was enough snow on the ground when OP is there to take his kids to the free sledding hill at Carter Park, or even just to play in it.

Ride the train in Silver Plume / Georgetown

Ya they'll love the Georgetown Loop train. Buy tickets online in advance if you're going to do this on the weekend. They sell out a lot if you try to walk up and get a ticket right before the train time you want. Probably not an issue this time of year during the middle of the week but might as well still buy ahead online to be safe.
