This kid is awesome.

He’s basically the feature back for Duke now. The announcers just highlighted his blitz pickup on a Darian Mensah TD toss. It was absolutely text book.

He has EVERYTHING in the arsenal as a True Freshman.

Grab Sheppard & call up Trevonte Citizen from McNese, who is averaging like 10ypc.

Can Duke afford to keep him when their quarterback is getting 2m a year?

Wouldn't be the first Nick Sheppard to don the purple and gold in athletic competition.

Guys that have a good year at Duke don't typically stick around... and given that he's from La, we're a good landing spot.

Honestly, he will probably go to Bama just to spite LSU. LSU didn’t recruit him. The kid from Alexandria and Berry were apparently better because these star raters said they were.

It was painfully obvious to me that Sheppard was a better all around RB than both. All it took was some film watching while also comparing the competition they faced in HS. Not hard.

It sounds like you are a better talent evaluator than every coach in the SEC. Keep up the good work.

What, in particular, stood out to you in Sheppard's film that made it "painfully obvious" that he was a better all around RB than Berry and Lindsay? I don't disagree that Berry faced weaker competition in HS than Sheppard. But I don't agree that Sheppard faced substantially (if at all) superior competition than Lindsay in HS. The Northshore district has historically been the weakest 5A district for as long as I can remember. That's not to say that the teams in that district don't produce high-level D1 talent (there are numerous examples of recruits from Northshore schools who have played bigtime college football), but district play is not exactly a gauntlet.

Back to Berry's HS competition, yes, it was laughably bad; but, the physical traits he displayed in his tape--namely, his speed and quick twitch ability--are uncoachable and transcend competition level. That much should have been "painfully obvious" to anyone watching his HS film.

For the record, I would love to land Sheppard in the portal next year if he's available, especially given the uncertainty of Lindsay's and Trey Holly's legal situations.
