New H1B fees, Major Impact

I was awakened by my phone blowing up with text messages this morning. With Trump signing his new EO on new H1B visas costing 100K each every year has apparently thrown my leadership into a scramble frenzy. We have several H1B IT people on our team and we are scrambling to see what the status of each of them are and if they were planning travel outside US etc.
My job (IT) is/was scheduled to be offshored to India within the next year. I am hoping that this will drastically slow this down if not stop it all together. There will be a downstream impact as well as all of the suburbs of DFW (Frisco, Prosper, Plano, Coppell, Irving) that have a large Indian population will see a lot of homes put on the market and sold at whatever price they can get IMO. This could impact DFW and other IT heavy areas bigly.

Large corporations such as mine, cannot take the risk of fines, if caught employing someone who has an expired H1B visa. They will look at all of the people they are currently sponsoring and make a determination for each. It will definitely impact any new people they bring in as well.

That guy is already wrong, we have people trapped in India and not paying to bring them back in.
It is going to be a large impact in IT and engineering. That will also trickle down to support and retail jobs spouses were working.

This is great news for Frisco and Prosper. Even if it take years to fully implement it is at least a start to address the problem.

Good luck. The new fee schedule may have prevented them from replacing you with an Indian in the US, but it won't have any affect on them replacing you with someone in India.
That's where my company got it "right". We don't have an H1Bs working here in the US, but we have an office in Bangalore with a few hundred architects and developers and we contract quite a few in India through HCL and Cybertech.
My manager is out there and makes about a quarter of what I do. I would say I am worried about being outsourced to there too but I fill a niche that would be very, very difficult to replace, today anyway.
