NY post article on real reason behind cancellation
Basically, a huge broadcasting company is trying to purchase another huge broadcasting company, which, according to the article already has some possible antitrust issues and they don't need this rhetoric on top of it as the guy in charge of the FCC is a conservative and he can stop the purchase from going through.

Absolutely. I thought it was already a story back in the summer that ABC was losing money on Kimmel and he was not going to be carried much longer. He probably knew it as well and decided to push his hate up a notch to be fired and be a portrayed as a victim.
The counter narrative is easy. 1. Kimmel show was a money loser. 2. His rating were in the sewer because of his political bias. 3. He only had liberal guest and only promoted Democrats and Democrat policies on his show. 4. His last monologue isolated half the liberals that still watched his show.
His firing may have been caused by the FCC pressure but it was only because the largest ABC affiliate happens to need FCC approval for a merger approval. It's not pressure from the SEC directly, but by the affiliate pulling out of Kimmel broadcast because of what Kimmel said. It's all on Kimmel and no one else.
