Luggage “Delayed” - Now 2 Days - AMS to Rome

10 day Italian vacation. IAD_FCO w a connection in Amsterdam via KLM. All smooth. Business class w points. 3 hr layover in AMS to FCO. Arrive and no bags. About 20 people go to lost luggage. We fill out customs declarations and delayed baggage claim.
Next flight from AMS delivers about 1/2 of missing luggage. My Apple air tags are showing bags are still at AMS. Zero communication from KLM. Head into Rome without bags. Go to Rome’s equivalent of Old Navy (“OVS”) to get underwear , socks, tshirt , shorts etc..
Next day- bags are still showing at AMS between terminals. Zero emails/texts from KLM. I call and get the runaround. Finally, I go on LinkedIn and look for the CSuite. Email COO and he actually responds. KLM had 10,000 bags delayed. He promised to email the baggage team to expedite our bags.
We’re leaving Rome to the Amalfi coast in two days. Zero indication our bags will be here tomorrow. Any advice? We’re definitely submitting receipts for purchases (clothes, toiletries) but anything else anyone recommends to find our bags?

Give up and go shopping. My bags were “lost” on September 6 at LHR. By lost, they simply did not make it on the plane. Bags sat in Heathrow for 10 days. Finished a week in Paris without even a return phone call. Called everyday. No help at all from American or British Airways. Complete BS and airlines don’t give a damn about any of us. Supposedly, the bags will be delivered to my house tonight.

A few years ago we were on a three week trip to Scotland and Ireland. My bags were delayed in Amsterdam. I purchased new clothes, etc. We arrived back home at 9:00 pm at the conclusion of our trip. My bag was delivered to our house at midnight that same night.

File a claim now.
It seems to go into a different customer service queue when you do, and you'll get paid in about a week. United paid for a new suit for me when my bags sat in ORD? for three days. Buy whatever you need and take pictures of the receipts, and file the claim.

Yeah dont let it ruin your vacation.
Next trip your fieldcraft (how and what you pack) will be better. You have to pack as if your checked bags wont make it, easy for a man, not so much for females.
