Coaching to win the game.

How many people actually understand what BK was saying when he said we coaching to win the game vs not giving the game away.
He also said he was punting in spots where historically loves to go for it. All in an effort to win the game.
We have given the game away too many times when we just could have been conservative and played ball control.
The Texas A&M and Florida game last year come to mind.
Also the 2019 game against Auburn was a great defensive struggle that we had to be smart in.

Pate said it perfectly in his breakdown:
“When a team is trying to lose a game, why stop them?”

It’s similar to never putting a team away. Clemson and Florida gave us 1000 opportunities to drive the knife into them.

I fully understand that he is using that as an excuse. You are going to tell me the 3 and outs are a plan to not turnover the ball when our defense is playing well against an opponent?
You need to open up the offense a little with some passing (instead of the run up the middle at least 2 times per first downs). This offense should be 4 to 5 wide with short to intermediated passing with an occasional deep route (for our below average O-line).

Intentionally going 3-and-out multiple times? Losing TOP by 15 minutes?
Definitely solid coaching strategies. He should write a book.

Worded another way: I'm coaching to not lose the game. With our defense this philosophy might work against some opponents but not all. We'll see.

Controlling field position, time of possession, trusting your defense, not taking unnecessary risks down the field when you have a legit punter.
Classic coaches speak when your offense is underperforming. We got dominated in time of possession. 3rd down efficiency was horrible. Florida was actually moving the ball at will but couldn't stop shooting themselves in the foot. Credit to our defense for never breaking down and making huge plays like the pick 6. Blake Baker is an absolute godsend to this football program.
And I understand Florida is Florida and BK wants to give all this credit to Napier but the fact of the matter is we need to see major improvements on offense if we want to be a serious contender.

Come on. LSU had only nine first downs on Saturday. Their offense struggled significantly. LSU did not approach the game thinking, "Let's get five interceptions and abandon our offense to win."

LSU moved the ball fine from the second quarter until the moment Johnson and Nuss gave the ball away on back to back plays.
Everything else was being conservative and playing field position.

At least he is not punting on third down yet.

I felt like I watched different game than everyone here.
I was happy with the game. People who run and point to team stats were the first ones to ignore them last week when we controlled TOP & first downs.
