I think we're limited because of poor OL play... Your OL is not executing, and your QB is not confident as a result, and longer throws require MORE time to protect/develop, you're not going to dial many of those up... We still need to do it to open up other things!

Seeing how Florida was stacking the box and keeping their safeties 10ish yards off the line of scrimmage, I think it's imperative that we attempt to throw more shots downfield. Whether we are successful or not in completing these passes, it keeps the defense (safeties mostly) from creating havoc in run game/short passing game on such consistent basis.

I had a good bit to drink Saturday, but I don't remember us attempting a pass 30 yards down the field at any time. Maybe once. (Correct me if I'm wrong). We saw more passing in the 20-yard range in the 2nd half, but it wasn't very prevalent.

I hope to see us throw some bombs again SELU this weekend.

Read what you just said and then answer why we would be taking shots downfield.

The coaches have lost faith in Nuss to make the right decisions. With our WRs, Barrion Brown, Nic Anderson, hell even Sharp all 3 of those can excel in 1v1. They can out jump anyone. If we arent taking shots downfield when Florida has 9 in the box and our WR group is this fast, there is a reason.

We have got to the throw the ball down the field, and not just on the perimeter. We need downfield in the middle as well. Have to get those safeties and linebackers worrying about the deep and intermediate more.

It feels like all we do is throw the screen and short out routes, then run into a loaded box. I need to rewatch the game as well.

Is it possible we don’t do that because Sloan knows Nuss is a pick waiting to happen?

He had some turnovers last year, but he was also effective with these passes. Presumably, in a normal world, another year in the system and maturity for the QB would show some growth there. If we don't put pressure on the back end of the defense, it will be a long long season on offense.

But QB needs a little more time to do that.

Statistically, Nuss isn't facing any more pocket pressure than the average SEC QB.

It seems like since 2011 we can never have a great O-line and D-line at the same time

Yep. 3rd and 5 late in the game, elected not to put it in his hands other than to hand it off. Lack of trust, at the moment.

Nuss has had time, maybe not all the time in the world, but his decision making ability is lagging. That pic he threw was a WTF moment, and I think the coaches see that they have to dial it down, and looking at their strengths, and win with Defense and a Game manager

The pass blocking isn’t really bad.

The run blocking is awful, but Nuss has time to let it rip. He just doesn’t

Throw the ball intermediate to set up the run. Then take an occasional deep shot.

It really is that simple. Nuss can hit the 10-15 yard pass on target. Run some screens. Open up the running game by passing the ball.
