Our offense is obviously lacking. What’s the issue? Are we saving the playbook?

Are we crippling Nuss with the current vanilla schemes we’re using or is Nuss crippling himself? Little of both?
Is Sloan the issue again or is BK the problem by allowing him to call plays then taking it away at times?
I’d like to think we’re saving our playbook for tougher opponents only because I saw better production from Nuss last year and he finished 5th in the nation in Total Passing Yards etc.
I realize we’re running the ball more which is a good thing, but I hope it’s not making us one-dimensional on offense permanently to where we’re losing our passing game.

Also, BK said last night post game conference that, “We played to win the game.” I’m not sure that’s a good thing. Saban says his mentality is trust the process, do your job and what you were asked to do for your team. Don’t worry about the scoreboard or the next guy. Focus on your job, your skills, and what you can do to make a difference for you and your team.

Bad Oline. A QB who just is who he is, and that’s serviceable at best. That pic he threw is a perfect example of he will never take a leap.

playing calling on 1st down is horrible

20+ years and we're still looking for that secret playbook.

They talk Nuss up all off season like he’s a top 5 pick and Heisman candidate then they won’t let him throw the ball on 3rd and 5 at midfield. It doesn’t make sense. Then he throws a bone headed pick like a true freshman and you realize you were lied to. He’s the same old Nuss.

For the love of God please don’t start with the secret playbook narrative again.

The playcalling is setting up 3rd and long over and over.
Throw short on 1st down, incomplete.
Line up in jumbo set and run into wall, no gain.
3rd and 10. Throw for 4 yard gain.
Punt.

That interception had it all:
Throw off the back foot? check
Throw late across the middle? check
It was like a "what not to do as a QB" training video.

And the coaches know that and call the game accordingly.

It’s possible that coaches(Sloan or BK) taking away the deep threat is shutting down our run game, not using our best weapons and getting the QB out of sorts(more than usual).

I’m wondering if because we are going against this Defense every day they’re too scared to try anything.
We very well may have the best defense in the NCAA this year, maybe the offense has no confidence because it gets slapped every practice.
Or maybe we try and call a competent offense in practice and Nuss is so bad it just falls apart.
Or maybe Sloan really is just a terrible OC. I lean towards this one because I’m a fat drunk idiot and I can guess most of his plays from scrimmage. That shouldn’t happen.
Also play calls like 3rd and 5 heading into the half only 15 yards from a field goal and we run it up the middle?
False starts coming out a timeout?
Multiple plays where no receiver even looks before 15 yards and no check down?
Uninspired runs directly into a backup center?
We know what works. We’ve all seen it: when this offense runs slants and quick screens we drive the field.
It all points to coaching and probably a combination of Sloans inconsistency and incompetence and Kelly’s seeming inability to motivate or challenge his players.

If they were saving the playbook then that is incredibly stupid ! Tigers were fighting for their lives most of the entire game!

Ehh we had several 3rd and shorts and couldn't convert. Just terrible in short yardage situations.

I'm tired of the first down run up the middle for 1 yard. It's essentially a waste of a down.

What’s the issue?
Running a spread offense with a non running QB.
Nuss is a pro-style QB and needs to run a pro-style offense. That means lining up under center A LOT more.
Think about it. If you are a DC are you afraid of Nuss running?
No, so you ignore Nuss and you key on the RB.
Defense against LSU is real simple right now.

This! Like wtf even is that? No creativity, no tempo, no rhythm, just clunky and unorganized and that starts with Sloan.
Posted on 9/14/25 at 9:43 am to tigerbait1.6
Yep he’s been a turnover machine from day one and that’s never changed and Sloan is supposed to be some great QB coach? Nuss looks like he’s regressed and not better developed this year.

His choice to not run much is not even a top 3 issue, neither are the formations.
