He’s currently at 334 career home runs at age 32 so he could realistically end up around 475. However, if he gets there he’ll likely only be about a 40-45ish war player with a .225 ish average and 1800ish hits, maybe 2000.

Every player who isn’t caught up in the steroid stuff who has 475+ homers is in the Hall and would put Schwarber somewhere around 30th all time.

It’s an interesting question to me as he’s going to be toward the front end of guys in the new era of baseball. I think it’s hard to keep a guy out that top 30 all time in home runs but the rest of his stats aren’t close to hall of fame worthy. I’d like to hear what that real baseball guys have to say as I’m a follower but not super locked in

There will be a lot of guys behind him in home runs who were locks. He doesn’t play good defense and his average is bad, but that’s the style of play now. Are there just going to be no hall of famers going foreward? He’s going to end not that far behind Stanton stats wise.

Maybe he’s not, but it’s not that straight forward, imo

Edit: one more really good season, he’s getting to 475. Two more great seasons and 500 is a real possibility.

Carlos Delgado isn’t in so I would say no. May finish with similar stats but Delgado will have a way better average.

Stanton will have a better case if he can get to 500 HRs and get his war over 50.

He'd have to play at his current level until 40ish to have a shot.

1400ish runs, 1800ish hits, 500+ HR, 1400ish RBI... gonna take some pretty significant hitting stats to counter out his lack of average and zero impact in the field.

An MVP award wouldn't be bad on the resumé, but good luck with Ohtani in the picture.

If the Phillies win the World Series this year and he edges out Ohtani for homers, he’d be a 2 time World Series champ, 2 time league home run champ. Going to have to have at least 2 more great seasons (40+ home runs) but if he does that, that gets him to at least 5 time all star, probably at or really close to 500, and multiple time World Series champ.

I think he’s a fascinating case IF he keeps his current form for 2 more seasons.

I mean, not really. His career WAR is 19.7. If you have a career WAR below 40 and are in the hall of fame you were either a negro league player or owned negros.

A career WAR of 40 clocks in at 890th best all time. There are 278 players on the hall of fame.

Schwarber could double his career WAR over the rest of his career and still have no real argument for being a HOFer.

Needs 4 or 5 more to really have a case.

His counting stats aside from HR are pretty pedestrian. Not even 800 R or RBI and just passed 1,000 hits this year.

Even then it's a stretch. Look at Gary Sheffield... he's not in and would be better across the board.

Stanton is going to end up around 50 WAR

If Schwarber gets to 500, he’s going to be top 30 all time in home runs and around 45ish WAR, so I don’t know how you say he doesn’t even have an argument when he’s going to have the same stats as a guy that is very much in the conversation.

Maybe one of his former coaches will be on the veterans committee in the future.
