We are coming up on camping weather and I am looking for the best places to tent camp within 2 hours of New Orleans. Any suggestions?

Is say bogue Chitto state park due to the number of activities it offers. Mountain bike/ hiking trails, river access and some ponds to fish.

Clear Springs Recreation Area is nestled amongst tall stands of pine and mixed hardwood trees. A 12-acre spring-fed lake provides fishing opportunities. Facilities include a campground, picnic area and pavilions, and hiking and mountain bicycle trails. https://www.fs.usda.gov/r08/mississippi/recreation/clear-springs

Lake Fausse Point SP https://www.lastateparks.com/parks-preserves/lake-fausse-pointe-state-park
My favorite - Launching in downtown Biloxi and paddling over to Deer Island for remote primitive camping

Clear springs FTW.
Just don’t tell too many people about it.

Bogue Chitto SP is great just make sure to stay in the "Bottomland RV Area" it's more tent friendly and closer to the trails and ponds. Stay away from the "Upland RV Area"
Clear Springs is awesome.
One of the absolute best tent camping experiences in LA is a place I normally keep secret but I'm five cocktails in so I'm going to say things I'll deeply regret in the morning.
The Indian Creek Recreation Area in the Alexander National Forest BUT not the main camping area full of people and RV's. There's a super secret incredibly beautiful primitive camping area. Many of the campsites are at the points of tiny peninsulas jutting out into the main lake and bordered on either side by inlets of crystal clear smooth as glass water. Great fishing and a great place to canoe or kayak. Most of the times we go there's hardly anyone in the primitive camping area but we also try and go during the week. If you're into wildlife watching this area is incredible and the main park has a terrific 3.5 mile loop trail that is a favorite of the bird watching community. This place is a bit south of Alexandria right off I-49 so it's just out of the range you requested. If you can drive that far you won't be disappointed. Just remember, if anyone asks you about the place say it 'sucks" so we can keep it a secret.

If by tent camping you mean backpacking in with a tent as opposed to car camping, then the Wilderness Section of the Black Creek trail in Mississippi is a good option.

My son and I camp twice a year in many of the wildlife management areas. Never have had any other people with us. It’s completely to you to have what you need. No electricity, no water, but I bring plenty of water and a small generator. But we also hunt or fish when we go. Last year we went into the atchfayla basin by boat
