Convenience-store operator RaceTrac struck a deal to purchase Potbelly for roughly $566 million, aiming to continue growing the Chicago-based sandwich chain.

Potbelly Chief Executive Robert Wright said that Potbelly and RaceTrac would remain distinct brands after the deal closes. “Their strategy isn’t necessarily to put a Potbelly in every RaceTrac,” he said.

I've seen the people that work at RaceTrac along with their normal clientele. No way would I eat any food from there.

I really like Potbelly. I wish they had locations in Louisiana, and it sounds like they might be expanding here in the future with this recent purchase. However, I'm concerned about whether the quality and service will decline.

I spent a week working in downtown Indianapolis, where there was a Potbelly in the lobby of my building. I think I ended up eating there for lunch five days in a row.

There’s one near my office I like walking to. Agree about the sandwiches. I personally prefer it over Subway, Firehouse and Jersey Mike’s.

The guy who runs/manages the joint near my office is not only usually on the line helping make food, and remembers repeat customers and interacts. You can tell the staff appreciates him.

Don’t know where you live but the Race Tracs and QTs in my area are relatively clean and efficiently run.

We have 10 or 12 here. And these are just a few of the news headlines from the few years (there are plenty more):

quote:

1 dead, 1 injured in shooting at unknown location, victims found at RaceTrac on Airline Highway

Deputies searching for woman who stole car from Essen Lane RaceTrac

One killed after being hit in front of RaceTrac on Siegen Lane early Wednesday morning

Shooting at RaceTrac on Essen near I-10

A cup of coffee, a parking lot struggle, a gunshot and a cashier fired at Baton Rouge store (Harding Blvd Racetrac)

And even God hates Racetrac

quote:

Video: Twister blows away truck on Old Hammond Highway on Friday

Video surveillance captured dramatic images of a twister lifting and flipping a man's pickup truck parked at the RaceTrac gas station on Old Hammond Highway on Friday morning.
