I used them in my old meathead gym. They are so heavy and tough to work with/cut, but once in place, they're indescribably tough and capable.
For the new age, I sprang for the flooring from Rogue.
(ETA: Get the 3/4" but be aware it can cause problems for closet doors, entry door, etc., if you're doing them in a room. For a garage, it is even more of a no-brainer. I feel like the 1/2" will work and would be lighter, easier to cut. In for a penny, in for a pound though, at that point.)

I used the 4x6 ones to make a home gym in our spare bedroom. Laid them right on top of the wood floor and had zero damage. A garage would be fine to use the half inch ones, I'd imagine.
