Too many times they used Thomas as a running threat

I hope they don’t think that will work against good teams. Yes, he had a big run on one of them, but for the most part, his runs were bottled up, poorly blocked at both the OL and WR level, and just wasting downs.

LSU sucks running out of the shotgun because it’s the same run over and over again, with no creativity whatsoever.

Sloan simply cannot coach or play call a run game. Even against Clemson, it was atrocious.

If you dig deeper, if you get one run for 20 to 40 yards and the rest are 2 yards to negative yards, you don’t have an effective running game.

That is where LSU is at with Sloan and this OL.

I don’t understand why they don’t run more outside zones and traps. They try to run too much into the OL’s weakness

Weston Davis really struggled in both pass and run blocking. He was getting abused all night.

But that’s not what happened in either game this year.

Feels like Les Miles 2.0. We are gonna run, even though we cant until we impose our will.

The difference is, most of those Miles teams did just that, imposed their will and busted through the line by the second half.

Per Hunt Palmer
quote:

LSU ran the ball 34 times officially and gained 128 yards for 3.8 yards per carry. Zavion Thomas’s 48-yard burst in the first quarter and Harlem Berry’s sensational scamper for 43 yards in the fourth accounted for 91 of LSU’s 128 ground yards. The other 32 carries managed just 39, and Caden Durham ran the ball 13 times for 29 yards on a long of five.

For some reason, it reminds of Les Miles and his insane offensive philosophy.

We’ve ran outside zone a lot. And you can’t really trap out of shotgun. You can wham though.

The issue with the run game was Chester. He’s getting beat which forces help from one of the guards. We ran the ball better against an elite Dline last week because of Moore. Davis had a rough night as well but he has good plays as well. Chester has no good plays.
