The guy is pretty good at recruiting but as far as the OL getting better it just never seems to happen. I understand we are starting a bunch of new guys this year but whats the reason for last year and year before that? We had some good players during his time here but have had trouble running the ball since he has coached here . JD hid a lot of the issues with his running and scrambling ability.

Nuss has pretty much put a big ole X on how bad the OL has played the last few years with his lack of mobility. Good teams will make LSU one dimensional because our OL cant seem to create running lanes and dont seem to be able to hold a block for more than a second. It's time Brad Davis gets put on notice for the money he is making putting out a subpar product year after year.

I see no lies told here. He’s gotta do better. No excuse for the lack of development for the amount of time he’s been here.

This. We haven't had a good OL his entire time here. He can recruit his arse off though

In all honesty, having Chester and Mubenga getting reps is really where your problems start AND finish. We have better options but it’s the hesitation to use said options that’s the killer for me. I hate ragging on kids but their deficiencies are very noticeable

Yup. After Dellinger got hurt a year ago, LSU scored 35 points in the first 10 quarters those two were on starting OL. Nuss and the entire offense was a mess. It was a carbon copy of last night. And unfortunately, a preview of what’s to come unless Moore gets back.

Yep OLine for pass protection and run blocking has got to get better fast if we are to have a special season. Otherwise it could very well be no better than last year honestly. And this is even considering our vastly improved defense. It will be a crying shame to waste this years defense like we wasted 2023’s offense.

Watching Chester get walked back into Nuss' lap by the Tech DT and Weston Davis consistently getting beat out the blocks by the DE is really bad.

That and no push whatsoever from the OL on run plays makes you wonder what Davis is teaching his OL.

Against Clemson Nuss was releasing the ball on average 2.2 seconds. That hid some of the OL issues as well. We'll have to go back to that vs UF, especially if Moore is out.

To put it bluntly and to be quite frank, we are a soft team. My personal opinion of CBK is that he is too sophisticated a man to coach beast gladiators to battle in the SEC. Nuss was quite cavalier last nite trying to appear calm, cool and collected in the pocket and tossing the ball without timing or accuracy.
I apologize. I don't see any assassin mentality in this team

Chester has no business playing in the SEC. He should be starting at Southeastern.

Why are we acting like LSU didn't have great pass blocking the last 2 years?

Why are we acting like we couldn't run the ball with Jayden Daniels at QB and Denbrock at OC?

I keep mentioning this, but people don't seem to get it, our OC and QB are way more to blame for running woes than the OL coach.

In 2022 with an entire brand new OL with multiple true freshman, we had 3 RBs average 5.4 ypc or better and a 4th average 4.9 ypc. In his 2nd year (2023) every single RB averaged over 5.16 ypc except one who averaged 4.9

LITERALLY THAT SAME EXACT OL ONE YEAR LATER WITH NUSS AND SLOAN, 1 RB averaged 5.4 ypc and the other two averaged 4.1 and 3.4

Also the amount of carries are way lower. We averaged 37 carries in 2022 and 33 carries in 2023. It was lower for 2 reasons in 2023, 1 Daniels was more dynamic so he ran fewer times, and 2 the defense was horrific so less running and more shots downfield. What was a harbinger for a bad run game coming up was that damn Wisconsin bowl game. While we were excited for Nuss with 400 yards and 3 TDs, we ran 25 times for 97 yards (3.9 ypc).

Carries per game fell off a cliff in 2024. We averaged 28.7 carries per game. Nuss's lack of running has killed us. People forget, but Burrow ran the ball.

Burrow ran 125 times in 2018 and 115 times in 2019. Jayden Daniels ran 186 times year one and 135 times year two.

The last time we had a horrible arse running game was 2021 when Max Johnson and Nuss attributed negative rush yards. The yards per carry for our top 3 RBs were arse.

We have been arse at running when we don't have a guy capable of running at QB. We don't run the i formation anymore, so play calling and the QB is relied on way more to help the run game.

They do not fear Nuss's deep ball AT ALL. Clemson did and they got picked apart. Tech said, prove it! That's why it was 8 MFers in the box damn near every run play. This is Les Miles level of predictable bullshite.

It also sucks when Nuss has a wide open 10-15 yards running and almost every time he throws a sideways falling down pass for a incompletion.

Same rpo play to Durham over and over. No threat of run by qb and against stacked box.

Honestly Campbell and Jones started as Freshman so the talent was pretty much there and how much better did they get over the three years? Honestly I didn't see much and the other players Frazier (transfer) and the guard (white dude from Michigan forgot his name) never improved. Davis gets the recruits and players but I see no improvement.

This. Drives me fricking nuts! He had at least 2 more 1st downs last night he could’ve made by doing this.

Also, watching the film, he panicked and looked off of wide open receivers down the middle and threw a shitty deep ball at least 3 times. He was definitely off his game last night.

Depends. I thought they played great in week1. Last night looked like last year. Moore seems to be the difference.

I said Chester was no good in years prior and would always get downvoted. Dude is just a waste of big size. He possesses neither the brains nor competence to leverage it.
