Damn good manager. The 86 Mets lost a good one. Those O’s teams in the 90’s…frickin Jeffrey Maier.

He got fired after winning manager of the year, because he moved in with his fiancé before the wedding.

Fantastic Manager but other than the Mets, he never stayed too long anywhere else. RIP

That was a Marge Schott thing. She was an idiot.
With the exception of the Dodgers, Johnson won just about everywhere he was. Had the Mets not gotten derailed by drugs and egos, they might have won more than 1 title.

I loved him as a player with Atlanta.

He was a good player too. I'll have to check my closet but I think I have one of his baseball cards from when he was a player.

As a Cards fan, I hated that team. Really glad we denied them trips to the postseason in 85 and 87, but Davey Johnson was a great manager. RIP

Davey got the last hit off Sandy Koufax, in the World Series.
Years later, when Johnson reminded him of that, Koufax said, "Dave, that's when I knew it was time to hang it up".

One of three Braves to have 40+ bombs in 1973; the first MLB franchise to achieve that feat.
