Peter Burns said this on Moscona today and with all the energy added as a result of this and portal players we recruited as a result im starting to believe this is true

I’m curious how hard we would have hit the portal if that debacle didn’t happen. Definitely good for our program

yeah idk about that (as far as beyond this year goes)

Underwood might end up being as good as advertised, which sucks.

But we'll be fine. Maybe I'm an outlier on this but I have a lot of excitement around MVB.

His mobility is what Sloan had with JD and I can see this dude being incredible with the right supporting cast.

Underwood could always transfer to LSU next season

I seriously doubt he’d transfer when he’s making about $4mil a year. He transfers he loses it

I mean we had Jayden Daniels and couldn’t win it all.

Just need Van Buren some other transfer to bridge the gap to Elijah Haven.

For this year I guess… but the Underwood signing would have been for the future

First, there would not have been as much money available to use in the transfer market. More than that, it changed the mindset of BK and the program. Before that he was of the mindset that building through HS recruiting with moderate supplementation through the portal was the way to go. After, he accepted traditional recruiting and relationships don't mean all that much any more. It's a contract negotiation and money talks...no matter how good your relationship is with the player. So if he was going to have to spend a ton of money on players it should be on proven transfers vs. unproven (though talented) HS prospects. It also served as a call to arms to the donors with BK expressly saying "If you me/LSU to win, I need a lot of money to buy these players." That kickstarted the all-in approach to this year's football roster building.

He is right. LSU otherwise, doesn’t have the money to compete

Not saying it would but, when you really think about it, it starts to make a lot of sense. He wasn't going to start here this year no matter what He can stay close to home, make a hefty bag and gain experience in a P2 conference, Then transfer and the starting job is his. Not saying it would happen, but never say never. Especially nowadays
