Apparently it has always been illegal. Enforcement now going to happen. If you don't comply you will lose you section 8 business and will be subject to arrest.

I am not sure this will be a huge impact on housing. There is a huge number of people in line to take there place.

Illegal aliens aren’t eligible for Section 8 housing. A person that is eligible could have people that live or stay with them that is illegal.
ICE could stereotype and check last names on eligible housing list and question the people living in those houses. They are probably already doing this
Section 8 housing is ran by local public housing agencies and that might make it harder to get a warrant.
