How great would Jimmy Johnson been if he remained in college football?

His team at Miami, they were killers. He turned them into the Oakland Raiders of college football. They simply destroyed teams, including #1's. Ask Florida State about that 31-0 loss. They lost to a national champ Notre Dame by one (and probably would win the rematch in today's playoffs) and Penn State in the bowl game for the national champeenship.

Just as Saban helped Miles with his recruiting so well, Johnson did the same for Dennis Erickson as Erickson was able to win big with Johnson's players when he first came to Miami.

So if he stays coaching in college, would he have become one of the all time greats?

Erickson proved to be a fine replacement, winning NCs in 1989 and 1991. I think Nebraska still would have gotten the upper hand on Miami in the mid-90s even with Jimmy Johnson.

Jimmy Johnson was self-admittedly an a-hole. He could only last 4 years wherever he was.

After 4 years, he either hated everyone, or everyone hated him. Someone that intense and focused doesn’t last anywhere long.

Also, Tom Coughlin’s expansion Jaguar’s team beat the ever living crap out of Jimmy’s Dolphins 62-7, and chased Jimmy out of the NFL forever.

There was a high fatigue factor with Johnson. His arrogance had a short shelf life.

I’d say winning 7 sprint cup championships is pretty great!

This was the biggest arse kicking I've ever seen in the NFL. It's the only game I've seen where I truly believed a team could have scored 100 points if they really wanted to.

Dolphins WR OJ McDuffie said that Jimmy basically rode the team into the ground with brutal practices after a cross-country trip to Seattle. Hard practices are fine when the team is coming off a first round bye and needs reps to get back into game shape like the ‘92 and ‘93 Cowboys. But coming off a difficult playoff game, Johnson massively screwed up not letting the team recuperate which led to the disastrous game against Jacksonville.
