…that we’d all be a lot happier and satisfied this morning if LSU had just hosted a mid-major team for an easy win last night. We should all feel insanely jealous of UF and UGA fans for how they opened their seasons yesterday.

Instead we had to watch LSU beat a top 5 team on the road in prime time. I didn’t even get to log into my ESPN+ account for crying out loud!

There has to be a reckoning for this kind of scheduling…

I would still rather see the big game in week 2, like in 2007 and 2019, but a big OOC win is always a good thing.

Just imagine how much the UF staff learned about their team by watching their team square off against Long Island!

I’d rather tune up games week 1 too, but I definitely feel better after beating a top 5 team than I would have after beating southeastern

As an advocate of opening with big games, it’s disingenuous to pretend that we haven’t suffered more from them.

Nick Saban made a great point on Gameday about these types of openers, saying that it keeps the players more focused during the offseason because the players always love to play in the big game environments.

Nick Saban never played in them. He always scheduled a jagoff team week 1.

Only an LSU fan could find a way to complain after a road win against a top 5 team. Now that it's in our rear view mirror so to speak this is a huge blessing. We actually have some margin of error going forward. If we have a bad day and lose a game we shouldn't lose we're probably still in the playoff. I don't see the reason to bitch about this now after we've already won the game.

people have to find ways to spin shite to defend dumbass verge from hsi garbage scheduling or the fact we have not pulled out. BAMA just pulled out home and homes with other teams./

this is not BCS anymore. nobody cares anymore about quality wins and SOS like the BCS did. the SEC is hard enough. we can play tough OOC teams in the playoffs now. our goal should be the easiest path to making the playoffs. anyone saying otherwise has never played or coached ball.

we are basically back to the old AP and UPI polls from the 80s. human polls.

remember all those OU and nebraska teams that played in all those orange bowls for natty claims? they played powder puff sche3dules in the old big 8.

and nobody gave a frick because they were playing for nattys and they won them also.

we have come full circle. zero reason for these dumbass scedules. FIRE VERGE NOW

We don't usually lose these. We went through a 5 year drought during O burning the program down and Kelly building it back. It's back now. Order is restored.

LA Tech isn’t Long Island. We started 2019 with Georgia Southern. A G5 is just fine.

The playoff committee telegraphed that that is changing a couple of weeks ago, right before the SEC announced the 9 game conference schedule and requirement to schedule one OOC P4 game per season. Do you really think those two things are unrelated?

The first two rounds of the playoffs fricking sucked. They ditched the Bye format because that was part of the problem. Putting Indiana in based on win total alone was another mistake.

The playoff are about money and the first two rounds being full of snooze-fests doesn’t work for sponsors. We will see how much more it matters, but SoS is going to matter more from here on out.

So is a top 10 OOC opponent.

Nobody is ruling Clempson out for the playoffs because of this and LSU is riding high.

Both teams learned a lot about themselves.

That’s more than could be said of playing a G5.

I got it when I got to the espn+ comment. That is the worst part of the start of football season.

Having said that, LSU should schedule P5 teams every year, but should schedule the “mid-conference” level teams.

Missed for sure.

We can niggle about the quality of the post, but I’m starting to think there are quite a few posters on the spectrum.
