Haulcy situation 100% on the staff.

We have staff members who should've known that it was a possibility. A lot of defensive quality control guys under coach Baker get paid to handle this type of stuff. I'm not saying it's not complete BS that it came out on game week, because it is. But one of our staff members should've known about this so Baker could've prepped packages without Haulcy starting earlier then 5 days out. Now, I say this, but Baker very well could've known about this and has been prepping just in case something like this went down. Either way it's one half, hope it doesn't hurt us to badly.

This never woulda happened to Jay Johnson and his staff

Turns out it’s actually Houston’s responsibility to report any pending suspensions in his transfer paperwork.

It’s the staff’s fault that Haulcy got ejected for fighting while at a different program?

We should have covered that base.

Probably going to cost them millions too.
The 2027 kickoff game in Houston has been removed from LSU schedule on lsu website

If so, as in life, don't make the same mistake twice. It will be on their radar moving forward.
It's just one half of football. Amazing how under the microscope these things become.

This is such a lazy take. Game theory this out.
What approach would you think would have changed?
1. Not recruited Haulcy? I'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt and assume they aren't this dumb.
2. Notified the NCAA? Same effect as you have now.
LSU was not incentivized to investigate further, and had 0 constructive notice of an issue with eligibility. They'd be in the same position as they are now.

You people are insufferable. Just have to have a scapegoat. The ruling was retro active. Haulcy committed to us in May. Why is it expected that our staff see the other BYU guy was suspended for bowl game then make the mental jump to connect that guy to AJ, then investigate. Jesus. Be mad at NCAA. Be mad at Clemson and Houston.

No its 100% on our spineless administration who won’t play him and tell the NCAA to pound sand

I'm sure they were aware it was possible, but didn't want to tattle on themselves. Sure they were hoping he could be suspended after Clemson.

there could be plenty of blame to go around....
Houston Compliance - Did they properly disclose this in the transfer portal process? (Also, if they alerted Clemson without Haulcy's approval, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Haulcy's suspension documentation is federally protected as part of his education documents)
LSU Compliance - Did we do all that we could do to clear eligibility for all players?
NCAA - Maintains the transfer portal. Is there a process where private eligibility information is passed between schools in the portal process?

I think this is just another feather in Kelly's hat of not having his team or himself prepared for the first game of the season

It provided a great opportunity for you to do what you do best.
