Clemson/LSU Matchup Winners

QB - Klubnik vs. Nussmeier
Winner: Klubnik - Nuss and Klubnik are two gunslingers with a slew of receivers to throw to to make plays in the short and intermediate passing game, but Klubnik’s proven running ability to Nuss’s unproven dual threat attack (although he’s been working on it) gives Klubnik an edge. Klubnik totaled 463 rushing yards last season on 119 carries for seven touchdowns on the ground.
WR
Winner: LSU
While Clemson has proven experience with bigger size than LSU, the speed from the trio of Brown, Hilton, Aaron Anderson are arguably the fastest pure speed receivers in the country. Hilton’s vertical threat is the best in the country imo. There isn’t anyone that can keep up with him (hence most of Hilton’s receptions are deep balls). Brown and Anderson are a bigger threat in the short-intermediate game and behind the line of scrimmage because of their twitchy first step and elusiveness
TE
Winner- LSU
Do we really need to discuss this? Trey’Dez Green and Bauer Sharp are matchup nightmares for anyone and expect BOTH guys to be in the game at the same time fairly often, particularly to help the O-Line. Clemson has Ian Schieffelin, who they brought over from the basketball team but he is OUT for the LSU game for a DUI charge
RB- Adam Randall vs Caden Durham
Winner: LSU
After transitioning from wide receiver, Randall will be the featured back in the 2025 season following the departures of Phil Mafah and Will Shipley to the NFL. Give me a proven, explosive sophomore projected to lead the SEC in rushing over a guy who is changing positions any day
OL
Winner: Clemson
Coached by former Ole Piss HC Matt Luke, they have brought back 4 of their 5 starters from last year - Tristan Leigh, Ryan Linthicum, Walker Parks and Blake Miller. Walker Parks is a super senior but is reported to be on crutches so hopefully he sits out. LSU brings in a whole new look with a mix of young talent and power 4 experience led by Center Braelin Moore from VT. Clemson’s experience is what gives them the edge at the line of scrimmage.
DL
Winner: Clemson
Peter Woods (DT) A top prospect for the 2026 NFL Draft, Woods excels as a run defender and pass rusher.
T.J. Parker (Edge): Led the Power Four in sacks last season and is a projected first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Will Heldt (Edge): A transfer from Purdue, Heldt adds another proven threat to the pass rush.
DeMonte Capehart (DT): A senior with significant experience, providing strength and size in the interior.
Stephiylan Green (DT): Another interior lineman who adds to the unit's depth and experience.
Prediction: LSU 24, Clemson 20
LSU defense coming out party and Durham breaks off a few big runs to put us on plus side of the field leading to points. Perkins and Weeks brothers speed will limit/elimate Klubnik’s rushing attack

LSU d line needs to change the sentiment.

Did you get bored and bail on Lbers, Safties, and CBs?
Posted on 8/28/25 at 1:06 pm to lsusieg25
You forgot linebackers, CBs, and Safeties all of which should heavily favor LSU

QB - Klubnik vs. Nussmeier
Winner: Klubnik
I have watched every single game tape from Klubnik dating back to his Freshman year and I got to tell you from a purely passing perspective from the QB position. Nuss is the better QB. He has better pocket movements, he has better anticipation, he reads defenses better and faster, and has an ability to make any throw with different arm angles.
Now Klubnik is the better athlete and he also hit on a lot more deep balls last year from both a number and % point. That was my take away from his tape last year was that he was not going to miss an open receiver deep. He improved on that a lot. He also took off after his second read wasn't open to keep the chains moving. He reduced his turnovers and looked a lot better against Texas then what he typically did in those big games from the previous years/games.
However, he was not great at the anticipation throws in the intermediate routes over the middle. He tends to throw outside the numbers with stops, slants, comebacks, outs, and go balls. Hes not someone who takes the second or third window on a slant and they didn't even run a lot of digs/deep crossers.
I still go back to people projecting him over Nuss is just that projection because Nuss had the better season last year and has more arm talent and accuracy. But his athleticism and ability to hit the deep ball will be difficult for teams to defend with the weapons they have. If you want to give Klubnik the edge due to indirect factors such as playing at home and having more time with his offensive weapons then I'll agree but give me Nuss any day of the week and twice on Saturday when discussing the better QB and the QB you'd rather have.

Home field advantage, a more seasoned dual threat QB and advantages in the trenches would point to a Clemson win...but we really don't know how either team will play on Saturday...and LSU seems to have a lot more confidence this offseason...will be a great game!

I agree with all of that.
I do think coaches can teach to tackle but you still got to want to tackle.
Clemson was 16th in the acc in run d out of 17 teams. That's terrible
