Even the Sea groans with fatigue; the Fall of the Cruise ship industry

Once a sign of peaceful relaxation.... Once the bastion of well to do, khaki wearing, shuffleboard loving, retirees...
The last 5 years...Cruise ships have turned into Popeyes or Waffle House at midnight seemingly overnight.
Countless videos on YouTube of brawls, scuffles, lewd naked behavior, unruly, unkept hoardes of "groups" of people... Not families or retirees....but the whole neighborhood seemingly.
Chaos at sea as cruise ship brawl goes viral over chicken . LINK
This is just one recent example for what has seemingly exploded overnight....video after video on YouTube of old married couples complaining how they lost their vacation space and how service, food, accommodations and entertainment have plummeted. See pic above for what ships offer as entertainment.
How did the Cruise line industry get here? Flip-flopping their customer base out of nowhere.

I wonder what changed.

Can we take advantage of this and start making one way trips???

I actually think this is a very interesting look at society.
I have a love-hate relationship with cruises. On one hand, they are an extremely efficient way to see other countries. But the cruise lines offer heavily discounted rates that undesirables have been able to hack.
So, you could have people who paid $1000 per person on the same ship as people who pay, say $400 per person. The rooms might be nicer, but they have access to the same ship. Add in all you can drink alcohol and it becomes an issue.

Without even clicking the link, Imma guess this is a Carnival ship.

some would call it ghetto cruising

yes...5-10 years ago, cruises were a playground reserved only for the wealthy

Carnival is slowly transitioning from a cruise company to reality tv. It should fill the real world gap in our lives soon.

A reason many people stopped going to movie theaters, and now a reason they wont be going on as many cruises lol

What I don’t understand is how 13% of the population, a significant portion of which are below the poverty line, have managed to overtake so many events, vacation spots, nice restaurants and such. How do they suddenly afford it? And how do they manage to be such a large percentage of people who attend these things?

And the reason I don't fly cheap airlines anymore.

That security guard’s face sums up “fatigue” perfectly

Your tax dollars subsidize their basic necessities so they have more disposable income.

Section 8.
Crazy checks.
EBT.
Family with money who pay them to go away.
Tax refunds for the children.
Shall I go on?

Carnival is the Spirit Airlines of the sea. Higher-end cruises do not have those issues.

They should have their own cruise line

One way trips to Cape Town would solve this problem
