All I have to say is this better be one of the greatest games ever made for the wait. While it is extremely impressive that this game and the original were only made by three people, they could have afforded some more programmers for the second one given it sold 20 million copies to make this game.

But looks absolutely incredible and I’m pumped.

1) It’s $15 and perhaps the best bang for your buck game ever made (Silksong I’m betting will be $30+). Don’t even have to pay any extra for the DLC.

2) It’s in the debate for greatest Metroidvania game of all time.

3) Really great and unique world that is really dark and you have to come across the mystery on what actually happened to Hallownest and who the player actually is.

4) Excellent controls. You’re going to die a lot, but you never feel your death was cheap. You just need to figure out the pattern of the enemy or boss and try again.

5) An excellent musical score.

6) Incredibly flexible with how you play it. You can beat it in almost any order once you get the wall jump.

Here is the trailer for the original if you’re curious, and again it’s only $15, which is the same price as a mediocre lunch. Worth the purchase just out of curiosity:

should we play 1 before 2 or will it not matter much if we jump right into 2.

I think the gameplay is going to be a bit tighter with 2 since Hornet is much faster and more acrobatic than the Knight (protagonist from 1), so I’d play the first one ASAP.

Hope it lives up to the hype. While I enjoyed the first, I don’t see it as a GOAT metroidvania contender like many others do. Got tired of the samey environments and the general directionlessness, but loved the mechanics and movement. Hope this one has some more environmental variety

One of the toughest platinum trophies I've gotten

The lore and plot is fantastic though.

Also frick you. You two are now millionaires and could have afforded more programmers or a PR Team. Those two probably made like $10 million a piece at least. fricking awful excuse for being a dick to your fans for over half a decade.

Seriously, this would be like George RR Martin announcing Winds of Winter’s release date today and saying it took so long because he was having fun doing pizza crawls. Read the room.

You could have easily hired four more quality programmers paying them each $120K a year and gotten this game out by the end of 2021. Instead yall decided to be prideful and refuse to do that common sense because the two of you alone made Hollow Knight, so you were going to do the same with Silksong with it being a larger project.

Not pushing back because I generally agree with your takes. What are some of your favorite metroidvanias? Was thinking about getting into one again. I have to take a huge break between games in that genre.

Also are we complaining about team cherry wanting to stay the same to make their own game the way they want to? Maybe they would have been overwhelmed with a bigger team and lost that connection to the game. Crazy. I would have thought people would applaud that.

Blasphemous 1
Salt & sanctuary
Grime

3 of my faves from last year before I burned out on the genre.

Blasphemous is incredible. But it didn’t hook me right away. By the end though it became one of my favorite games across all genres.

Tough to even explain the appeal. It’s tough and the world is…. Quite interesting to say the least.

Re: silksong, awesome! Can’t believe it’s almost finally out. Hollow knight is incredible.

This is blasphemous:

They've sold 15M copies. Standard price of $14.99, historical low is $5.99. Let's just assume average of $10 per sale.

$150,000,000 gross, 30% fee for Steam/PSN/Xbox marketplace sales

That's $52,500,000 for each of those jabronis before paying out their contract laborers No wonder they didnt rush. Scope creep is bound to happen with no worries about funding

Plus I’m willing to bet that Silksong will be twice the price or higher than Hollow Knight (not unjustifiably I might add), and they’re about to make mad bank. Hell they’re probably selling at least a thousand copies of Hollow Knight a day to this day, so they’ve been taking their time and getting no outside help. Just living the dream.

I do appreciate the free DLCs though. That is no sarcasm quite generous of them.

- Symphony of the Night
- Salt & Sanctuary
- Ori 1 and 2
- Ender Lilies
- Ender Magnolia
- Nine Sols
- Blasphemous 1 and 2
- Bloodstained
- Hollow Knight
- Aeterna Noctis (not for the faint of heart, one of the most relentlessly oppressive games I've ever played. If you've played Path of Pain from Hollow Knight, just imagine that difficulty of platforming for an entire 60hr game. It's a true precision platformer on top of having a crazy combat system and some really difficult bosses)
- Grime
- Last Faith
- Axiom Verge (much more metroid than castlevania)
- Laika: Aged Through Blood (this one didn't quite click with me like I expected but I still enjoyed it)

I just started Prince of Persia Lost Crown and it seems very promising.

Other highly regarded ones I've bought but haven't played yet:
- Islets
- Doomblade
- Afterimage
- Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth
- Elderand
- Astalon: Tears of the Earth
- Elderand
- Monster Boy
- Death's Gambit
- Crypt Custodian

I realize that's a lot, but if you give me some more info regarding you preferences, I can fine tune some selections for you. The top 10 are so are absolute must plays though

Take it with a grain of salt, etc., etc., but there's a Steam thread that says a humble bumble insider confirmed a $24.99 price.

Steam Thread

ETA: It's also apparently going to be on Game Pass

Hell of a price quite frankly. I was betting on $30, but they very much could sell this game for $40 and people would easily pay for it.
