I fish for catfish. Run lines, traps and bank poles. Never really been good at sacalait fishing. Does anyone know of any decent spots around lower livingston or ascension to get on some? Not asking for yalls go to spot but maybe point me in right direction

Went to buddies house in bayou sorrell the other day. Water dropped and we didn't catch much. Then took me 2.5 hours to get home due to the Charlie foxtrot of new bridge

Just looking for new hobby closer to home

Hwy 16 bridge pylons in Colyell Bay is as good as a spot as any in that specific area. 4lb monofilament with a 1/32 or 1/16 oz tube jig in black/pink, black/chartreuse or blue/pearl. Lower jig along pylon to bottom and move up and down at different depths until you get a bite. Then concentrate on that depth at all the pylons. February-April tends to produce more fish but you can catch em any month out the year. Other bridges in the Amite and diversion canal produce too, just have to fish em during the week when boat traffic is minimal. Good luck!

Thanks my new hobby is a canoe with trolling motor on it. Definitely not going to be in that on weekends with out of towners crossing lake in their boats. Lol

Plan on getting a few more traps and making bank poles for flat heads on Amite and Colyell bay. Sacalait fish as I run lines

Crappie Thunder rod and reel combos from Academy is what I use. $45 is a reasonable price. I use the 6’6” rods and mostly “shoot “ the docks at Lake Bruin.

I typically just take a guided trip up on Grenada lake a time or two per year and that keeps me satisfied.

Not going to help you and I'm up in East Texas. I have LiveScope and those fish look like Christmas tree ornaments. It's gotten to where I just catch and release for there most part. I can imagine scanning the bridge pilings would also show the ornaments. But I used to catch them without it. A lot.

Watch for green jeans. A canoe with any type of motor is supposed to be registered and have hull numbers.
