Are you playing harp and keys too? I wouldn’t change the vox at all.

I really didn't play anything on that.
I just gave a guy my worktape for the song with a couple of guitar parts and vocal and that's what I got back.
I do play harp, but wasn't sure I wanted it in that song.
That player is better than me though and it worked pretty well.

Update! Sea Gayle Music picked up this song tonight!
Have to wait and see what happens, but it's a great start.
They are a really big outfit for an independent publisher.
That's where Chris Stapleton got his start, before the bigger boys lured him away.

Not this time. I tried but missed out on the deadline by a few minutes. It was a very popular pitch.

That guy JD, is totally different from most publishers. Coolest I've ever seen.
He loves his job and the craft. He's funny as hell too.
If you get a chance and he is there again, go there in person.
They took photos last night after it was over, of the writers that got picked up. I guess they will put those on the website.

It's a guy named Dusty Drake. I've known him for about 30 years.
Pretty sure he's not a robot, he's an incredible singer.
I kind of felt like he didn't do as well on that song as he could have done. Not that it's bad. I just felt like he could do better.
I'm gonna leave it alone though.

He has been doing this a long time. I use him any time I can.
He's not perfect for everything, but if you need a country baritone, there's nobody better.
He's got plenty of youtube videos and stuff.
He makes a pretty good living doing the demo stuff.. and gets to be at home every night.

I have a pretty good story about him:
I was doing some recording at a studio back in the 90s and my girlfriend at the time wanted to be there.
I did a rough vocal to give him the idea.
He is an hour late. He comes in telling the most ridiculous story about having to kung fu fight some folks at the Chinese restaurant then other stuff, making us all laugh.
Back then he was a very handsome guy and physically just stacked. My girlfriend is laughing at him, but she's holding on to me.
He listens to my vocal and reads the words for the song.
He says" I aint gonna do it grassy like that".
He starts singing his 1st vocal, and I can feel my girlfriend melting.
He does the second try and just makes the song beyond my belief.
He could have just taken my girlfriend right then and there.
Anyway, he says he has to go quickly after that, because his wife is at the hospital having their first kid and left.
All happened in 30 minutes.
