Zach Wheeler to the IL with a blood clot

Cristopher Sånchez will push but Skenes seems to have more momentum

That always amazes me how guys this young wind up with clots. Unless he has some sort of thoracic outlet syndrome and you’d think he would’ve known about that by now

You guys really need to read studies on health.

Your ignorance is expected and embarrassing.

Yep. Young athletes have always had blood clots this much even before the you-know-what shot. It happened all the time!

“A blood clot in a healthy person in their arm is actually seen with some frequency in elite athletes,” says Lawrence “Rusty” Hofmann, MD, a professor of interventional radiology at Stanford School of Medicine in California. “We call it ‘effort vein thrombosis.’ We have seen it in elite swimmers, volleyball players, weightlifters, and basketball players. Believe it or not, if a healthy elite athlete is going to have a blood clot, it is typically in this location."

In a sense, it’s a type of overuse injury, Dr. Hofmann says. Elite athletes build up muscle in their arms to help them excel at their sport, and the added muscle can crowd nearby veins, causing them to narrow and making clots more likely to develop.

Deep vein thrombosis caused by compression in the blood vessels in the upper extremities “is more common in athletes, especially if the DVT is in their dominant arm,” says Scott Cameron, MD, PhD, a cardiologist and the section head of vascular medicine at Cleveland Clinic.

Could be PFO, use of Testerone, steroid use, clotting disorder, continued injury with hematomas etc…or the clot shot hard to know unless you know the medical history

This is why dipshits shouldn’t be allowed to access webMD. You’re the type to clog up the ER over a fricking cold. A PFO would’ve revealed itself waaaaaay before now particularly in an athlete of that caliber. Wheeler is very obviously not on steroids and even if he were, there is no science to suggest that a mild rise in his hematocrit would cause a blood clot. That isn’t how that works genius. Some of you disgustingly obese fricks that drink “diet” cokes all day are walking around with crits’ way higher than people actually on steroids because of all the neovascularization your extra fat causes, your shitty metabolic profiles, and your propensity to sit and lounge for excessive periods of time. There, you’re all up to speed
