Better defensive line. Healthy linebackers. Experienced portal additions to the secondary. 2nd year in Baker system. How many interceptions will we have this year?
2019 - 17 (Stingley had 6)
2020 - 13 (Ricks had 4)
2021 - 8
2022 - 9
2023 - 10
2024 - 6

I expect a nice uptick in INTs this year. Our Safeties dropped several and you had a lot of young CBs like Stamps and Woodland that defenses constantly attacked. Safety play should be greatly improved, and we have more talent at CB to go with returning guys like Stamps and Woodland.
Another thing that didn’t help was that DL pressure fluctuated from game to game. When we were getting it, it helped the secondary a lot. In games where we didn’t, the secondary was left out there on their own. With the better talent and depth up front, I expect more consistent pressure on QBs, and for that to cause more mistakes and turnovers.

Didn't realize Stamps had the 3rd most PBUs in the SEC last year.

Interceptions are the result of pressure on the QB. We should tick up from last year. Coach Williams is all about getting off the ball quickly. It’s what we’ve been missing.

He did a pretty good job of staying with his man. He just struggled getting to the ball in time to make a play for an INT.

I can see Nuss throwing more ints d/t the O-line.

LSU was -3 in turnover margin last year. Need to get that to at least positive to have a real chance at a natty
Posted on 8/14/25 at 9:15 am to LA 2 TN Tiger
I expect a pretty big jump in Baker's production

I would expect an average of 1 a game. so 15 and then 1 more in the Natty! 16 total
ETA: on average one a game. Might have 2 in one game and 0 in the next for example

I hope so. It would be a lot better than offensive interceptions

I think Sage Ryan played like 100 games before getting an INT

16 games? Or are we losing in the playoffs?

I see a world where we double our total from last year.
3 reasons:
1. Much improved pass rush, especially in the middle. Fumbles come from sacks on the edge, interceptions happen from pressure up the middle.
2. Our DB room is in the best shape it’s been since 2019 and it’s not hard to see that.
3. If our safety play is just competent, doesn’t even have to be great, we’re going to be in great shape.
