Trying not to let stats carry too much weight at this point with only two games played ..........but not crazy about these ....

Turnover Ratio -2

Points Per Game 20 vs 30.9 last year

Both passing and rushing yards per attempt down from last year

That was a good question. Your numbers were right. Crazy that it could still be a low QBR.

See These Week 1 QBRs?

Dandy Don posted week 1 QBRs for some of the hyped QBs........

Garrett Nussmeier: 82.7
LaNorris Sellers: 75.7
Arch Manning: 58
Drew Allar: 39.4
Cade Klubnik: 31.4
DJ Lagway: 29.8

Nice to see Blake Baker's unshakable intense disposition in the closing minutes of the game vs House's permanent shock and fear just saw a ghost look.

"LSU's stifling defense"...........Welcome back!

Second Half Adjustments - Haulcy

Posted by LA 2 TN Tiger on 8/29/25 at 6:09 am
I don't remember the first half of our recent openers being the problem. Maybe Haulcy coming in will be the first second half adjustment in a recent opener that works........??

Hope this doesn't duplicate a prior posts. So much to read through before work on Haulcy this morning.
Clemson defense had 35 sacks for 208 yards. Forced 14 fumbles.
LSU defense had 34 sacks for 217 yards. Forced 14 fumbles.

Assumed with all the Clemson "elite DLINE" hype there would be a bigger difference.

Which defense improved the most in the offseason?
Who played against better competition?

*Not sure if Clemson numbers include their extra games (conf champ and playoff).

Didn't realize Stamps had the 3rd most PBUs in the SEC last year.
Better defensive line. Healthy linebackers. Experienced portal additions to the secondary. 2nd year in Baker system. How many interceptions will we have this year?

2019 - 17 (Stingley had 6)
2020 - 13 (Ricks had 4)
2021 - 8
2022 - 9
2023 - 10
2024 - 6
2025 - ???

Football - Managing Penalties

Posted by LA 2 TN Tiger on 8/3/24 at 1:22 pm

It seems some teams consistently handle penalties better than most. Sometimes it's just limiting the damage of penalty; sometimes it's bringing attention to the opposing teams tendencies before a game.

Defensive Offside - We've all seen defensive players smartly reach out to contact the closest offensive player to deliberately stop the play when they know they were flagged for offside (preventing the "free play" deep shot).

Pass Interference - We've all seen DBs take a blatant pass interference penalty to stop a likely touchdown play.

Coach's Before A Game - We've all heard coach's talk about sending the other teams penalty related tendencies to the league in advance of games to try to get the refs to focus on certain things; and they use the same to get players prepared prior to the game.

How well do you think LSU stacks up against the best coached teams in managing penalties? Has BK made any statements about adding focus to that area this year?
