The excitement of Southeast Missouri became more than I could bear. So, I took a break and went to Louisiana to visit old friends and attend the 2025 Mass in commemoration of the birth unto eternal life of Charlene Marie Richard.

Before the Mass began we said the Rosary. The last decade was in French. I was one of the very few present who did not know how to do it. There were nuns in habits and ladies wearing mantillas. Old school pre-Vatican II Catholic stuff. Welcome to Acadiana where people not only have faith they also live it.

There was also a lady from New York present who credits Charlene's intercession with the birth of her perfectly healthy baby after sonograms showed two severe brain abnormalities. Her doctors had told her to terminate the pregnancy.

The Vicar General of the Diocese of Lafayette said the Mass and gave us strong dose of Catholicism. At the end of the Mass the congregation said the prayer to St. Michael. I had only seen that done once before at a parish in Florida and they did it before the Mass began. I say the prayer to St. Michael every night.

This did my soul good. I hope I can go back again next year.

I grew up about a mile from her graveyard. Very close to the Richard family. A lot of people have visited and prayed to her from all over the world.

Lovely story.

Do you happen to have a copy of a prayer card or prayer we can say to her to ask for her intercession ?

He didn’t have a list of top 10 dedicated masses
He didn’t mention mother
There was no culture or city reference in the post
There was no feeling of snobbery

Not TulaneLSU

TulaneLSU seems to be confining himself to the Food and Drink board lately. More's the pity.

What’s up TulaneLSU? It’s almost time for me to breakout your Christmas Journey book. I have it in our dining room on the table right now.

Our diocese has started to say the prayer for Saint Michael for a couple of months now right after Mass has ended. I too say it everyday.

Whenever work takes me to Church Point (or “out West)…I make time to stop at her grave and say a prayer asking her to help me with whatever is my most troubling issue at the moment.

It’s a very powerful experience and helped me deepen my faith.

She hears you and can help!
