Compound bow for 14 year old

My 14 year old son wants to start shooting a bow. I have no experience with bow hunting. Would like something he can use for a couple years and does not cost a bunch. Any suggestions?

Mine started with a diamond bow couple years ago. A lot of adjustment as they grow.

Where are you located? It will help with giving you a pro shop.
Bass pro or a big box store would be the last suggestion if you don’t have any experience to help rig and tune it.
Diamond and bear both make bows that are priced pretty decent and have the ability to grow with him.

I started mine at 10 with a Matthew’s Mustang, an outstanding starter youth bow.
Your kid is big enough to skip the youth bow.
I would avoid the big box stores and go to a good bow shop. Much better customer service and ability to taylor the bow to your kid.

Look at a mission. They make 2-3 that can range from a pretty young kid and adjust up to fit an adult and aren’t crazy expensive.

Any of them should be able to hook you up though just be firm on your budget. He don’t need a Matthews lift to kill a deer.

Spend a little money and get him fitted at a bow shop, and make sure his bow is tuned in, shooting through paper.
If you start out with something out of whack he will be slinging arrows all over the back yard.
I started "a long time ago" with a Bear Whitetail hunter, Bear bows have made a comeback and are on the lower end as far as costs.
Another hint is look at Pawn Shops, they always have some used bows.
