Didn’t they expose some sort of study proving Reddit posts to be over 50% bots?

I asked AI and he said to trust him that only a small portion are bots

quote:

What the Evidence Actually Shows

1. No solid study confirms “50% bots”

The “over half are bots” claim mostly comes from user anecdotes or jokes, not hard data.

Some people point to numbers like “40% of accounts” being bots, but even those are rough guesses, not verified research.

2. AI content is a growing factor

In certain writing-heavy subreddits, AI-generated text has been detected in significant amounts—over 40% in one 2024 estimate for a single community—but this is not representative of Reddit as a whole.

3. Reddit’s own reports don’t back the claim

Reddit’s transparency updates focus on moderation activity, not detailed bot percentages.

Academic work on automated accounts shows their existence but not at a scale anywhere near 50% of all content.

4. Likely range is lower

Common realistic estimates put bot or automated content in the 5% to 15% range overall, with some niche subreddits much higher.

Extreme estimates above 50% appear to be speculation without strong evidence.

Looks like the sort of stuff I'd seed if I were invested in selling AI.

Or people are fricking nuts.

Equally possible.
