Real talk, this is probably the worst Saints roster I've seen in 30 years. Good thing they're giving Kellen a long leash. This is a 3 year minimum rebuild.

It really isn’t. Drew Brees takes this roster to the playoffs.

They have:
The best linebacker in the organization’s history.
The best running back in the organization’s history.
A decent to solid defensive backfield.
Decent outside linebackers.
Potential at offensive line.
TAYSOM FREAKING HILL.

Their problem is age. Either way old or way young. Not much in between.

And no answer at quarterback yet.

This comment is almost as bad as your “best linebacker ever” one

Literally anyone serviceable is either 30+ or has had 5 concussions.

We have 3 QBs on roster who are fringe backups right now.

For what it’s worth I agree with you. The dome patrol was so good cause they had guys that were great at what they did. You’re gonna have a lot of dudes arguing Jackson because of his pass rush but I believe Demario is the best all around LB we’ve ever had.

But comparing those 2 is almost impossible because they essentially play different positions and whatever you argue is valid IMO

Lions, commanders, vikings, Texans, eagles?

Was that supposed to be hard?

You also forgot Sam Mills and you're still treating Demario like he's the Demario of 3-4 years ago. He hasn't fallen off like Tyrann did or Cam but he's not at his peak anymore so even if you think he's the best in team history he's no longer that.

No I’m not. I’m looking at his tenure in whole.

Guys, am I taking crazy pills? Is it really even debatable that our roster is bad? Objectively likely the worst in the league.

We have three quarterbacks that likely wouldn't be a backup on any other team. We have like one offensive lineman who's got some promise. One young defensive lineman with some promise. Brandon Cooks is our fricking number two wide receiver. And our number one wide receiver is a guy who can't stop going unconscious. Alvin Kamara is probably still a stud, and if 35-year-old taysom Hill has any juice in the tank, it certainly won't be for an entire season.

Almost none of those were 3 year rebuilds. Lions and Eagles turned it around within one season of having a real qb and coaches (2020 to 2021 - both 9-8). Commanders, Vikings, Texans were instant playoff teams with the addition of a qb or coach. Try again.

It’s a qb league now because of rule changes. QBs mask dogshit rosters every year (see your examples) and take them to the playoffs. We aren’t sure of what we have there but the old days of needing 3/4 years to fill out a roster are over. Even the Chiefs roster has largely been slop outside of a few positions.

That’s what I said. I don’t think this is a Super Bowl roster.

Demario Davis is the best linebacker the saints have ever had. And I don’t consider it a debate. I have watched that dude single-handedly stop drives so many times. That doesn’t mean the others were not great. He’s just that good.

And my Brees comment wasn’t crazy. Brees didn’t go to the playoffs a lot of times. I’m saying this roster is better than some of the rosters we’ve had in the past.

My point is that the Saints are nowhere near the abject disaster this board seems to believe. Maybe this year, but it’s not like they traded their entire future for Bryce Young or anything like that.

My point is I don't think the QB of the future is on the roster, so call this year a wash. Maybe we find one next year, but that will not be a complete turnaround on one season, so year two is still a rebuild at minimum. Then maybe by year 3 they put it together, building a roster along the way
