Boot Krewe made an interesting deadline deal if we are still in a decent position to make the playoffs. Dejounte, Hawkins, Jose and 2 first for Sabonis. Do you make that trade if we are looking like a playoff caliber team midseason?

I don't think I would want Sabonis' contract the next few years. Certainly would not be trading away first round picks to get him.

Yeah its the draft picks part that turns me off to it. One pick possibly but not 2.

Any trade that uses Murray as salary fodder is completely absurd.

Kind of defeats the purpose of doing what they did to get Queen. That would be a whole another level of special by Dumars and Weaver.

If they ever go big game hunting for a big, it has got to be a true rim protector/defensive anchor archetype.

Have you seen that guy play in playoffs? He disappears. No thank you!

Enter Jim Mora "playoffs!" meme.

I would love for this team to make the playoffs and then have one player "disappear." I would consider a first round exit to be a major success for this squad.

I agree that we drafted Queen to fill whatever role Sabonis might fill. I don't need to remind anyone what we gave up for Queen. A Zion/Queen/Sabonis frontcourt would be very skilled, but we'd be out-rebounded to death (not to mention what would happen on defense).

You see what you have with Murray before considering trades. If Murray comes back 100% then you don't add any picks or if you do they are heavily protected. It also greatly depends on the impact of Fears. I'd rather trade Z for Sabonis if he isn't playing at the absolute highest level before we trade Murray without even seeing him back healthy.

Trade a healthy mediocre Zion before a Murray that's not playing IMO.

You think we could get Sabonis with (1) unprotected first? That was rhetorical btw we know it was just an attempt at a retarded "gotcha".

Wouldn't this be our way of admitting that both Missi and Queen aren't panning out?

And you’d add something like $42 million to the books this year which puts the team way into the tax. A trade for Sabonis requires Dejounte to he part of the deal because he makes $31 mil this year.

Not necessarily. It would moreso mean that Fears/ Poole/ Trey/ Herb are indeed excelling. This is a move if we are already a competitive team and trying to contend. Otherwise Missi/ Queen would be in that trade package instead of future 1sts.

Serious question: when has Zion ever been mediocre? Did you think about what you typed? You want to see 30 year old Murray coming off his Achilles injury because you would probably rather trade mediocre Zion? Did you mean injured Zion? Because when he plays, Zion is a much, much better player than Murray, 4 years younger, and his Achilles has never ruptured.

Serious question: Did you type this thinking that it would be a 1 for 1 swap in a trade replacing Zion for Murray? Zion would be worth more in a trade package, meaning we would not give up 1sts and may even get more back... That comment was never meant as a 1 for 1 comparison.

When I say "if Zion is putting up mediocre stats" that means "if Zion isn't playing like a guy we are going to extend for another 50+mil going forward and a top 20 player in the NBA".

"Mediocre Zion" isn't equal stats of lets say a "mediocre Looney".

If Zion doesn't look like a true #1 this year or doesnt move the needle then yeah I'd rather trade him for the package he's worth than trade a hurt Murray at a discount. That shouldn't be that crazy to process.

For example:

Zion's highest scoring game ever = 43 pts
Murray highest scoring game ever= 44 pts
Saddiq Bey highest scoring game = 51pts
Jordan Poole highest scoring game= 45 pts
Trey Murphy highest scoring game = 41pts

Yeah Zion can coast to 20 pts and get FT's to increase his average but he really has not "taken over" shite. Any of those guys can have just as good of a game. If Zion doesn't prove he's "that guy" this year then he's probably worth more as future assets > paying him Booker/ Luka money to just be a really good player.

I didn't quote my own post and nothing I said in the message was ironic. I guess nice try.

Unless you are trying to find something ironic in the fact that I replied to myself which happened to be the last post and then made a statement that had absolutely nothing to do with my post.

Ironic how you thought that was ironic...
