Days after the Orleans Parish Clerk of Criminal Court admonished City Hall for relocating hundreds of court records without proper notice, staffers upped their search Tuesday to a local landfill.
Clerk Darren Lombard said city workers were told by Public Works Director Rick Hathaway to move official court documents — including murder and rape cases dating back to the 1950s — from the shoddy containers and office trailers where they’d been stored for years to a Department of Public Works yard.
After learning that at least one container had been thrown away, along with other debris, Lombard got permission from the Gentilly landfill owner to search for the files with his staff.

“They figured we would never find anything,” Lombard said of the landfill site workers, who assisted in the search with an excavator. ”We're retrieving a significant amount of them [files,] but I doubt we'll be able to get them all.”

The city that sends key filings and court documents to a damn landfill left a dead body visible for months at a construction site that had city inspectors falsifying reports that led to the Hard Rock collapse.
It’s seems every day we are reminded it’s a 3rd world slum undeserving of pro sports teams.

New Orleans is stunningly incompetent.
Can't they create a DropBox or Sharepoint folder system?

New Orleans becomes less maddening when you think of it as the northernmost Caribbean city instead of an American city. It’s wildly more competent and safe than Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, for example.

One thing I would like to know is how the City Hall people became in charge of the Criminal Court records. They are two separate entities in two separate buildings a mile apart from each other.

It’s not just New Orleans.

Like a well oiled machine…
A wrecking ball to be specific.

So, they must be looking for the mailing addresses of everyone that sued the city and won so they could finally mail them a check. Right?
