I never got the hype on it when it came out. It think it surfed the hype over John Huston directing his daughter and Jack Nicholson dating the daughter. It was ok.

It is definitely considered a "dark comedy". Nicholson and Houston were pretty laid back in their performances as Charlie Partanna and Maerose Prizzi.

Very good. Quirky though. Nicholson wears a brightly colored jacket in one scene that’s kind of remarkable. You’ll know what I’m talking about?when you see it. The whole cast is great, including Angelica Huston and the old boss and head of the family.

Yeah, the old mob boss was fantastic in that movie .
