Jase Mathews announcing commitment Aug 8th. Haven't heard much lately.

Bad news? Does Auburn have him already?

Didn’t he already commit to A&M, he wasn’t that great there

2 team race between us and auburn. Both sides are equally confident. Will come down to the day of most likely.

Articles are saying he is auburns "top priority" which only means to me that they're dropping a ton of money for him. No hate towards the young man for getting paid, but he's missing out on a legendary WR class by not coming to the boot. I mean, has any team ever landed 3 of the top 10 wrs? Geeze what a class that could be. And I think we push hard for him too, just to look even more attractive to the 2027 QB we go after. Haven seems to be the guy. Add him with the top TE that is from LA as well and LSU is looking really, really good on offense for a few years. There is another top notch WR in the next class from LA as well.

Is being part of a stacked WR class a real motivational tool for a prospect? I just don’t know if they u derstand the value of jumping into an ultra competitive wr room with all the money being thrown at them now. It feels like they just want a big bag and a real chance to play right away. LSU WR success in tge NFL should be all they need to see the long term chance of having a real career in tge league but that doesn’t seem to be the end all anymore. Maybe I’m wrong. A lot of this is perception. I’m sure not every prospect has the same priorities.

Don’t mind him, he’s the resident macho man on this board. He gets very upset when he doesn’t get the reaction he wants out of you, don’t give it to him.

No that’s the safety with the last name Matthews that committed to A&M a few years back and then transferred. Can’t remember his first name.
Jase is a WR and still in high school.

Jacoby is the name you’re looking for. He was a 5-star in our backyard. Ended up being a bust.

With the new Executive Order, would this be illegal to drop a ton of money by 3rd parties to sign him?

I wouldn’t say he was a bust. He was actually a decent safety for A&M. But we’ll see because he transferred to Auburn.

Expo, I don't think competition or NFL proof matters compared to the immediate ability to move your family to a new home to start a new life. Sure, you could come compete and turn into a 30+ million dollar a year wr (shorting jamarr and Justin just because Malik and Brian haven't got their 2nd check yet) but that's 6ish years down the road compares to today money. Kinda like when folks when the lotto and get the lump sum instead of getting paid out in smaller amounts over several years which ends up being much more money. Folks, kids especially (and their family), want immediate change instead of down the road change that may not ever happen due to the kid being a bust or injury. Take the millions when you can get it. Can't blame em.

SO does that mean we are out of this one now?

Not at all but Auburn is hurting and needs a victory in recruiting

Crown, I have a dumb question that I feel like you're most equipped to answer.
I haven't been paying attention to football recruiting much the last few months. Was much more focused on life and work (and baseball recruiting
)
What is the deal with the rivals/On3 merge? Are "rivals" rankings now considered the standard? Are the rivals rankings a combination of old On3 rankings and old rivals rankings? Are they just carried over from where On3 had them? Are they just carried over from where rivals had them?
Answers to these would be greatly appreciated, as I have no idea what I'm looking at on a recruiting profile now
I'll hang up and listen lol.

Got you!
On3 is no longer maintaining its own ranking system—Rivals now handles all player ratings and team recruiting rankings, including the Industry composite rating. On3 focuses primarily on team coverage and related content.
The On3-specific individual ranking system has been retired, simplifying the ecosystem to one consistent set of ratings via the Rivals platform.
Rivals publishes two key ranking products:
• Rivals Ratings — their unique evaluation of prospects.
• Rivals Industry Ranking — a composite of the three major recruiting services (Rivals, 247Sports, and ESPN), each equally weighted at 33%. This aims to provide a more balanced and unbiased picture of player ratings across platforms.
