We all know that any music that was created after 1999 sucks. I’ve recently heard these 3 songs that are not Woke played several times on a couple on 70’s-90’s rock stations. It’s good to have them back.

The Boy George lyrics in Money For Nothing are never played on 80s on 8. Occasionally, it will slip into Classic Rewind.

My favorite song is Simple Man by Lynard Skynard. It's a good song to live your life by.

I think I have seen those two girls on The Big Bang Theory. The bolnd was Sheldon's assistant that tried to cut out all of his friends to win the Nobel Prize and the dark haired girl was Raj's shy girlfriend. Prove me wrong!

The short brunette definitely. Not sure about the hot blonde. They're hilariously filthy though.

The awkward dancing just kills me

That's a broad brush you're painting with. If you're talking pop music, then yeah. It has completely sucked since before 1999 though. And "rock" that blasts on "rock" stations became pop around the turn of the century. Same with "country" music.

I'm a rock and metal guy that likes a bit of every other kind of music including old school rap. I'm a musician and have been since the 90s so I listen to a lot of everything. Just off the top of my head, I can name outstanding bands like Chevelle, Seether, A7F, FFDP, and many more that emerged after the turn of the century. But in fairness, those guys were heavily influenced by the masters of music that dominated the greatest era of music from the 70s through 90s.

Yeah, mainstream music is complete fricking garbage now, but the industry is changing with bands/artists like Tom Mcdonald, The Dead South and many more breaking the traditional "mold" of record-label-slavery and having immense success as indies with an emphasis on social media presence.

...and since you posted the "Money for Nothing" video, I feel obligated to once again let the entire world know that Mark Knopfler is among the most criminally underrated guitarists of all time.

We'll never again see an explosion of premier bands like we had in the late 80s through early 90s though. It makes me sad but also makes me feel very blessed that I was growing up listening to brand new releases by Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Metallica, Primus, Tool, Pantera, Nirvana and the 50 other superb superbands that emerged during that time.

You don't explore enough music to say that. 60 70s music is my groove but to rule out everything like you did is silly.

Generally with a handful of exceptions. Audioslave and Foo Fighters put some great to acceptable stiff since the turn of the century. Johnny Cash's The Man Comes Around is a masterpiece. Mostly artist that were around long before though. Just gotta look a lot harder.

Peak Knopfler is What It Is

There is plenty of good rock and country music these days. You have to look a little bit for it. I’m a big fan of using Spotify to find new music - the selections they put together are great, just pick a band you like and go to the “band name” radio

Think you meant to address the OP … I haven’t said anything to rule out any newer music. 70s, however, was the best era for all genres: country, rock and soul.
