I'll just stick with some Cole Haan shoes under $200, and my Red Wing boots. I would never get $1000 out of dress shoes I might only wear 2 or 3 times per year. I'm sure they're nice though.

Shell cordovan material is a different ballgame than calf skin leather though. Not the same. Granted I don't personally care for the look as it's got a gloss look.

Didn't pay close to full price but got a pair of Higgins Mill boots in natural and even with that gloss look, they look pretty sharp. Wear em with jeans all the time when it's cooler.

I have several pairs of exotic boots that are much more expensive but I’ll be damned if I spend that much for some dress shoes. They’re not even particularly good looking.
