The thread about carries reminded me of a question that I have had about carries. Is there a preset Activity setting for Rucking? All I see is one for Walking and that doesn't seem to record the calories accurately. Any suggestions?

I don’t think so. I think you can do a “hike” and possibly add a weighted vest to that. Tried setting up a rucking activity for my wife and couldn’t figure it out.

My suggestion is just use the walk or cardio function and don't worry about the calories burned on your Garmin, as it is almost assuredly inaccurate.

Not all the Garmins have a rucking preset. Here's a list of the ones that do.

I am aware it's probaly not accurate but it does help me to stay motivated and affirms progress.

I’ve got an older instinct and I use “cardio” for pretty much everything except for running or swimming

Could you just adjust your weight in the profile to account for the vest. Unfortunately you’d have to adjust back and forth based on your activity.
Otherwise good base is 100 cals per mile. Unless it’s at 15%+ grade.

I set up a hiking activity that I named "Rucking" on my Fenix 6, keeps track of everything like a hike instead of a walk. My biggest pet peeve with Garmin is that hiking does not count as a walking activity. Makes zero sense.
