Despite being red hot on the recruiting trail with the 2026 class, Mike Elko and his Texas A&M Aggies saw how quickly things can change with someone who was a great fit for their program.
George Lamons Jr., a four-star tight end from Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia, announced his decommitment from Texas A&M on Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-4, 218-pound prospect had been committed to the Aggies since April, choosing them over offers from South Carolina, Alabama, UCF, and numerous other programs. Currently, Lamons holds over 25 offers, with two schools emerging as frontrunners in his recruitment.
“I just want to slow my process down,” Lamons told Rivals. “I want to look hard and navigate the process better.”
“Right now, LSU and Georgia Tech,” Lamons said. “Alex Mathis from Georgia Tech has been calling me. Also, when I took the visit to LSU, it really made me think about my next steps. I like how they plan on using me in the offense.”
A versatile pass-catcher, Lamons can line up both inside and outside, aiming to solidify his role as a wide receiver.
“I play receiver. Most of my offers are as a wide receiver,” he said. “I don’t know where the tight end comes from. I think I have maybe about two or three offers at tight end. But, yeah, I plan on playing receiver at the next level, though.”
In the Rivals Industry Ranking, which averages evaluations from the three major recruiting services, Lamons is ranked as the No. 81 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 5 tight end, and the No. 12 recruit in Georgia.

It's actually hilarious to see them whine about this subject whilst simultaneously bragging about spending money.

A&M spending 50+ million on NIL across all athletics and haven’t won a damn thing is hilarious

Don't forget the hilarious jimbo contract, I laughed so hard when they signed it and harder when he flopped. What a clown show over there.

In other words he wants the bidding to continue.

Well, 50 million on men's sports. A paltry 2 million on women's sports.
That's why they end up with the top ranked softball team and don't get past regionals.

I don't get very excited until they sign in December or February. A lot of moving now days from month to month. Such as Underwood.
