And it’s been a fact that at least 50% of a roster must be either 4 or 5 year stars to win a natty dating way back for many years. The lowest on record was Clemson with 52%

We’re in position to run the table lets GEAUX

This isn’t true anymore

They count the last 4 years of recruiting

How many of those players have transferred out?

Transferee in?

The blue chip ratio is a percentage of 4 and 5 star team has on its roster and it’s been consistent over the years that every team has at least a 50% ratio to win a natty. LSU has a 73% ratio this season

Can you post link to this years data, and the blue chip ratio of recent nati winners? From where ever you found this. Just copy then paste the website address if you don't know how to post a link.

It's confusing that you reference a stat where 6 teams have a better situation than LSU but then you say that LSU is in position to run the table. What about the other 6 in front of LSU? Are they not in a better position, according to that stat?

I'm trying to be realistic about this season. BK has made serious improvements but he's still behind those top programs in terms of roster alone. Couple that with 6 tough games, 4 on the road and his 15 year inability to consistently win the biggest games - I don't see how that adds up to winning it all. Playoffs? MAYBE.

Basically the whole staff is returning which I think is going to be a factor as the season goes on but the Clemson game is too early and at their place. I do think the team is better this year but that might be reflected in only one more win than last season. Climbing the mountain is going to be tough tough. There are some seriously good coaches at schools who are ahead of LSU and are spending as much as LSU is.

Is this staff and roster capable of winning it all? Absolutely. The oline needs to mesh, no major injuries, favorable officiating, all of which can happen

We are getting credit for players that have transferred out just like every other school

People put way too much stock into this statistic. Imo. Sure, it matters to an extent. Meaning, the more highly rated players a team has, the better chance that they have opportunities to miss on certain numbers of players and still have highly ranked players to back them up. However, it doesn't guarantee success. You have to develop said players and have a culture that breeds winning. It's more important in my opinion to develop and get the most out of the players who maybe are under the radar, were miss evaluated, and have a chip on their shoulder going into college that you're staff has evaluated and see a high ceiling in themselves and see the player fitting into a specific role in your program...rather than simply taking some recruiting sites word on a certain prospect being better than another. Players don't stop developing after they get to college and alot of blue chip players reach their ceiling in high school whereas some players develop and mature later and are late bloomers. Some of most instrumental players I can remember in LSUs natty seasons were high 3 star to low 4 star players that weren't necessarily 5 star blue chippers coming into our program.

The 2 things I'm most curious about with the tigers this season are the oline and the defense against running QBs. Clean those 2 things up and LSU can beat anyone.

Ok is supposed to make a major jump this season but they have way more question marks than LSU.

Bama is trying to figure out their QB.

TX and UGA are insanely good but are not unbeatable on any given gameday

Fla has a ton of talent but can Lagway be the guy for 12 games?

8-4 has a ton of talent but how good is Elko really?

Clemson is breaking in 2 new coordinators

Ole Miss lost a ton on the defensive side of the ball and have a young, inexperienced QB

Doesn’t take transfer into account and Bud Elliott defends that by saying transfers are mostly role players.

Meanwhile, the 2 starting QBs in the nc game last year were transfers

Louisiana recruits are typically highly underrated. I pay attention to this. How many players from Alabama are in the ESPN300 or top 247. Bama usually has 30% more players than Louisiana on any year in ESPN300 than Louisiana. Alabama has like 10% more people than Louisiana. However, Louisiana has like 25% more NFL players than are from Alabama.

ESPN 300: 1.3x Bama born players has over Louisiana born players in ESPN300
NFL: 1.25x Louisiana born players outnumber Alabama born players in NFL

That means that the 1.3 x 1.25 = 1.62x or 62% is the margin of error that ESPN300 makes in overrating an Alabama born player vs Louisiana. Louisiana should have more ESPN300 recruits than Alabama. Yet majority of classes I see AL outnumbering. It's all bias. Bias that because University of Alabama players were great that players from Bama born players are great. Well, Bama recruited a shite ton out of state. Way higher than LSU. Their roster is well over 50% out of state while LSU roster might be 30-35% out of state.

Did you notice 6/10 are from same conference? Tough row to hoe and less likely position, imho.
