I’m guessing Micah is gonna demand 42 per yr. Jerry Jones is a fricking moron who keeps making the same mistake over and over.

That's a shitload of money but TJ is worth every penny.

Today is a good day to be a Steelers fan.

It's still the nouveau-modern NFL right?

They're not switching back to Mean Joe Green rules are they?

That's a lot of money for sarcastaball...

On the D side.

Like the Texans giving their 2nd rounder guaranteed money, and the rest want it.

Guaranteed money is the dumbest thing to do.

This is a really odd arument and actually bass ackwards.

In the modern game, the QB is still the most important player on the team, but the dedicated rusher, be it the RDE or ROLB, is the second most important player on the team. Now, TJ plays from the left because he feels more comfortable rushing from that side and overcomes the disadvantage of rushing from the right against a right-handed QB but it still meets the criteria. As odd as it may sound the above makes the LT generally the 3rd most important player on a team. Those three players (with the premier rusher coming from the right) dictate the arc of a lot of modern football games.

To add a little more spice to my post I think the teams shut down corner is more important than the WR1.

And you'd be correct on all counts. I know not everyone follows the circus that is NIL and the values attributed to positions but it falls right in line with your premise.
In terms of $ value it seems
Qb
DE/OT/DT
WR/CB
LB/IOL
S/Rb

Always outliers but in general those top 2 slots get the most consistently higher offers and are in more demand. Top end WRs and CBs push big numbers as well. The LB Texas just bought is near a mil per. The RB they're about to buy pushing the same. Those are outliers at their positions but show the level of demand at the top.

Opposed to what? Trading him for draft pick that isn’t in the first round? Or letting him walk for free after this season?

Yes, let’s get rid of an elite pass rusher when they will likely be playing a QB on a rookie contract next season.

Steelers have not won a playoff game since 2016, and have averaged more than 6 losses a season the last five years….., TJ Watt is great, but it will take a lot more than this to fix the Steelers.
