LSU is about to have some very good recruiting classes these next couple of years

So lsu brings back Austin Thomas and hires him as GM
He then goes on to hire Jeff Martin- University of Southern California’s director of scouting
Kevin Bolden-Ole Miss’s recruiting coordinator
And Sam Pittino-Ohio St’s director of player personnel(longtime Saban’s top recruiter)
Good chance LSU flips 5 star safety from Catholic High who’s committed to Ohio State now..
Where is all this money coming from?

Recruiting has very little to do with relationships anymore

You couldn't be more wrong. Sure money helps tremendously, but relationships matter.

The only guy we need back is the dude who produced all the awesome videos that left a couple years ago.

Blaine has a special feeling about OSU. LSU can enhance that feeling and should. It's the feeling you get with money in your pocket.

__________

We are one of the richest athletic programs in the country. Also have plenty in the coffers for NIL related offers. These support members make less than most of the roster. Even some of the on field coaches make less than select players.
Relationships do indeed still matter. If offers are close the relationships mean more. More importantly in the pay for play era is scouting. That's what these hires represent. If I'm deciding between which kids to pay up for or hold firm at market rate or not pursue, I'd like to have as much information as possible about the differences in those players. These 3 hires strengthen our scouting and talent acquisition department. The relationships they garner while doing so are icing on the cake. All are obviously good communicators based on their backgrounds.

I don’t know how anyone could disagree w this. Case in point with our most recent 5 star acquisition and his comments re Frank Wilson.
I highly doubt that it was a 2.0MM at LSU vs 1.7MM at ATM decision that made all the difference.
Those are completely fabricated numbers but at a certain point for these blue chippers, especially if they have good parental guidance, there are some highly qualitative factors that will make it NOT be all about the money and more about personal development and spending the next three years with a staff that gives a shite about the kid.

They have never mattered more. 10 years ago it was about figuring out which uncle was playing agent and getting them on your side. Now it’s about sitting down with an actual professional agent and the uncle and mom, and figuring out what all of them want AND what is going on behind the scenes. Getting close enough to know if money is the only thing, if their work ethic sucks etc. The number is gonna be close, it’s about deciding what sets that number for each particular school and deciding whether you want to pay it.

Contradiction at its finest. It’s not a coincidence that LSU isn’t near the top in recruiting nationally since BK has been here in the NIL era and that’s with some of the best recruiters in the country on staff
