........I know, I know.

Wife talked me into this months ago and we were fortunate enough to get tickets during the mass chaos release.

Just seeing if anyone else here is also doing it.

I dont mind it because it doesnt have the olympic lifting and shite and I am a fairly strong runner. It just piecing together thing string of things on tired legs and lungs.

I’m doing pro doubles. The sled is fricking heavy. 202 kg’s

I’ve done it once in the past (for the record I haven’t paid for either, I got a hookup with them, it’s insanely overpriced), my recommendation, especially if you are doing mixed doubles, is just get your running in good shape. If you are relatively strong the implements are short enough where running is where you make or lose all your time.

The difference between a slow and fast 1k row is like 10-15 second. The difference between a fast and slow 1k run, of which you are doing 8 times can be a minute plus

Word. We are doing mixed doubles. Wife is pissed about having to do "MaNz" weight but she will live.

Getting sled / sim work in every Sunday.

I have been seeing where you treat it as a "running" race with stations in between, so as much as I hate to, I am running more than lifting at the moment.

Cool, let us know how it goes.

Brace for downvotes, the lift only bros do not like running, at all.

Never heard of this before. Looks interesting. I guess you buy a ticket to participate? There appears to be a waiting list to get in but idk. How much does the ticket cost? Likelihood of getting in off the waiting list?

About $175

My guess is they’ll “drop” another round of tickets at some point. I think they do a limited release to create fake scarcity personally. I’d joint the waitlist to be safe, but hard to put a percentage on it.

It has grown substantially in the US over the last several years. I did one of the first races here, but I do think they’re full of shite about how popular it actually is. Like I said, I think they only release a percentage of the actual spots that they know will “sell out” for marketing purposes.

The popularity thing is real imo.

I’ve done 4 Hyrox events, starting in 2023 in Chicago and most recently did Vegas this year.

It was eye opening how big Vegas was compared to previous years..plus the level of competitor was much higher.

Hyrox is a spectacle, they run an amazing event. I’m glad it’s catching on and highly recommend people do one.

I mean it’s definitely growing.

But I also have a hard time believing there were like 20k people in the queue for Dallas like they’re saying there was.

I definitely just speculating though

Don't know anything about this, but if it has rowing, work on your form. Get some coaching or at least watch some YouTube. Nonrowers who try to row almost universally have bad form and expend way too much energy. Good form vs bad form could easily be the difference in the aforementioned 10-15 seconds.

I haven't paid much attention to Hyrox, but the races seem to be tailored to my strengths.

I honestly didn't realize they were this popular and anyone could join (if you get tickets).

Might have to pay more attention.

Mingo, in your opinion, what would a respectable finish time be for a well trained 40 year old male and female duo?

I dont really have a gauge and would like something to shoot for before we do a full sim run through at the gym in the near future.

I would think sub 85 is respectable, sub 75 is good, sub 65 is great.

I believe the elite times in mixed doubles are like 55 minutes.

Either way, if you go sub 90, you’ll beat a ton of people. Because the movements are approachable, there are a lot of people who aren’t very fit that participate
