Anyone ever installed one for the kids (and adults) to play on? My youngest started asking for one, and they're not at all expensive. I've got several mature trees and a few would be great start and end points. Also my yard naturally slopes from the house down to the back of the property, so it would all be a good downhill run no matter which trees we end up using. Main concern is ease of setting up and taking down, since it will be in the way for mowing, walking the dog, etc. Also wouldn't want to leave it out in the elements, so taking a few minutes to take it down isn't a big deal.

Well, it shouldn't be in the way if it's not in use. The cable shouldn't hang that low, since you have the apparatus underneath it, and then the weight of the kid making it sag anyway.

I just put one up for my kids. I put it to where they could go off their playhouse and ride it down. Worked for adults as well. It was surprisingly very well put together. I will say it was pretty hard to get it really tight. The turnbuckle it comes with didn't take enough slack out so I hooked up the end where you finish to my side by side and pulled as tight as possible, and then pinched it off with the clamps. Once it was super tight then I tightened the turnbuckle a little.

Clearly someone doesn't have kids.

Make sure you get a good spring brake at the end. I bought a kit for my brother years ago and forgot to add the brake. That was entertaining for a bit but we quickly got it installed.

When I was a kid we made a zipline from nylon rope and used a broom handle to hang on to while we slid down. I'd climb up the extension ladder and zip on down. Grandpa approved. Mom unapproved.

We bought one off Ziplinegear.com but man have the prices gone up since then. Make sure you borrow/buy/own a come along to get the tension right. Without it you'll never get it where you want it. We set ours up where the only ground point that could get in the way of mowing was the brake anchor. I poured a concrete footing below the ground with an eye bolt in it and used a carabiner for the brake to connect to it so I could remove it if needed. If you put it under a power line and they come in to do tree work they will cut it.

I used my sister’s bike’s handle bars. My bike was waiting at the bottom to make my getaway.
