Just bought some metal stairs to replace the wooden ones. The YouTube video makes it seems easy to replace, anyone with experience can give guidance?

Put a couple of 1x4s across the opening and set the new stairs on them. Screw new stairs in place.

Have done my last 3 or 4 stair replacements by myself.

Wait until winter. To hell with dealing with attic heat this time of year.

Pretty simple as long as you can lift them into place. Follow the directions exactly…it seems like there are some hidden nails to install or something like that and they are critical.

Need to mention you will be in the attic if the stairs are up. At least that is how I do it. And if you are in the attic someone will need to remove the 1X4's so use screws!

1x4s should be positioned so they are only touching the frame and not the door itself. Should not interfere with opening or closing the door.
You will need plenty of shims in the attic with you. I prefer cedar shingles, split to 4-6” wide. Use 3” deck screws, then after you climb down and check everything out and it’s ok, then maybe put a a couple of 16d nails on each long side.

Are you sure you know how to replace attic stairs? If you're replacing your attic stairs 3-4 times you may have an issue there.

When I was planning the Barndominium, I researched this one piece sliding stairs that I'd come across in several attics over my HVAC years. It was in a word, substantial. Equipped with a hand rail. I found that they had gone belly up during Covid after being in business since the 1930's
